Our Chemprene and AMMEGA Specialty team are currently looking for a
Rubber Chemist
As a Rubber Chemist, you will be responsible for developing and improving rubber formulations used in Chemprene products. In addition, this position is responsible for developing, testing and improving rubber adhesion systems to industrial fabric. You will report to the Director of Product Engineering. This on-site position is based in Beacon, New York. The salary range for this position is $70,000-$90,000 annually.
A day in the life of a Rubber Chemist can look like
Serves as Rubber Mixing technical point of contact. Provides agile responses to questions.
Assist with R&D projects
Design and develop elastomer materials (NR, SBR, CR, NBR, IIR) and adhesive systems for bonding to fabric substrates (nylon, polyester, cotton)
Utilize lab equipment and test apparatuses to fabricate and evaluate developed materials.
Perform R&D to evaluate materials and develop Specifications and Process Route Sheets (PRS)
Evaluate physical and chemical properties of new and alternate materials
Prepare test reports and Product Data Sheets
Provide training to technicians and operators
Coordinate, observe and report on production trials
Reduce process variation to improve quality, identify opportunities to improve productivity and reduce cost
Solve manufacturing problems to determine root causes and implement corrective actions
Investigate product complaints
Other projects and duties as assigned.
Liason with inter-company departments to ensure customer satisfaction in quality, on-time delivery and breadth of product offering
Works closely with manufacturing and ensuring to ensure customer expectations are met regarding product performance
We are looking for you to have
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science or Chemical Engineering
Knowledge of Continuous Improvement approach
Knowledge of Quality systems
Proficiency with rubber compounding and design of rubber to industrial fabric adhesion systems.
Understanding of cultural differences in global environment
Interpersonal skills / good communication in English
Technical background
Problem solving skills
Excellent leadership skills and Business Acumen

Excellent computer skills including MS Office
