Advanced Care Hospital of Southern New Mexico is seeking a PRN Respiratory Therapist to join our team!
The RT evaluates and treats patients with breathing disorders. Assumes primary responsibility for all respiratory care treatments, including supervision of respiratory therapy technicians. Integrates the hospital's mission and "Guiding Principles" into daily practice.
Performs medically prescribed respiratory care procedures in accordance with physician's orders, medical staff approved protocols, and clinical practice guidelines.
Assesses patient's condition using professional judgment and in conference with patient's physician. Evaluates appropriateness of therapy specifically in the treatment patients.
Stands by and assists during special procedures and responds to critical situations.
Actively participates in patient rounds and team conferences as indicated. Participates in shift report, continuing educational programs offered, and mandatory in-services.
Maintains and cleans equipment and work area as required. Reports all malfunctions or breakage appropriately. Setup, maintenance and removal of equipment from patient care areas.
Documents all procedures and patient education performed on all patients, including patients' response to therapy, and communicates patient tolerance or adverse response to therapy to nursing, physicians, and other applicable staff. Receives pertinent information concerning assigned patients and effectively communicates all relevant information to the oncoming shift.
Communicates appropriate information to patient and family concerning respiratory care procedures and equipment maintenance as needed.
Complies with quality control, safety, infection control and emergency procedures consistent with hospital policy.
Completes monitoring and QA steps on sterilization etc. of respiratory equipment as required.
Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and staff. Assess the risks for safety and implements appropriate precautions. Complies with appropriate and approved safety standards.

Current state license as a Respiratory Therapist required.
Current CPR Certification required.
One (1) year recent experience in acute care setting preferred.
Additional Qualifications/Skills :
Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures.
Demonstrates general computer skills including: data entry, word processing, email, and record management.
Demonstrates good judgment, initiative, problem solving, decision making, prioritizing and organizational skills.
Effective organizational and time management skills.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to maintain proper levels of confidentiality.
Ability to work closely and professionally with others.
Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
