Arcadia Unifed is seeking to hire a candidate that demonstrates the following:

• Work with administrators, teachers, classified personnel, parents and students

• Plan, organize and prepare IEPs, behavior plans and transition plans as appropriate.

• Participate in specialty training to provide current, research-based supports for the students, including training in specialized curriculum, specialized behavioral approaches, and reporting processes

• Confers with the rest of the IEP Team to ensure all disciplines are aware of a student's strengths and/or needs to ensure the "total child" is addressed.

• Works with general education teachers when students are mainstreamed to ensure the students are participating appropriately in their classroom.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

KNOWLEDGE OF: Demonstrates knowledge of core curriculum for the purpose of modifying/accommodating to help students meet goals and objectives of the IEP.

Demonstrates knowledge of special education laws as well as SELPA and District policies and procedures for the purpose of maintaining compliance with federal and state laws. Strategies used in lesson planning, instructing, and evaluating progress of students. Strategies to instruct students individually and in group situations.

Techniques for effective student motivation and discipline. Appropriate curriculum development strategies. Strategies for working with students of multi-ethnic and varying socio-economic backgrounds. State and federal requirements pertaining to the education of students with exceptional needs.

ABILITY TO: Ability to coordinate services with the general education teacher and through collaboration make suggestions for modifications/accommodations of core curriculum that targets students' needs; Ability to administer a variety of assessments; Ability to utilize peer-reviewed research-based instructional strategies to plan educational programs; Ability to write IEPs aligned to state content standards; Ability to implement each student's IEP as it is written; Ability to provide students with specialized instruction based on their unique needs; Ability to adhere to federal and state laws pertaining to students with special needs; Ability to communicate effectively with general education teachers, administrators and parents; Ability to maintain student confidentiality; Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents; respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints; Ability to write lesson plans using effective, research-based techniques; Ability to make effective presentations to classrooms of students; Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables; Implement adopted educational standards.

Plan and deliver an effective instructional program. Achieve and realize compatibility between personal professional goals and District philosophy and curriculum programs. Adapt the curriculum and materials to the needs of each student.

Evaluate and maintain personal and professional growth standards. Cooperate with school and District staff and parent community in instructional planning for individual student achievement. Adhere to district, state and federal policies and practices in relation to drafting and implementing Individualized Education Programs for students with disabilities. Maintain accurate records for reporting purposes.
