Primary Purpose:

Assist the Restorative Practice Specialist (RPS) with classroom implementation of interventions identified for specific students. Work under supervision of Director of Social and Emotional Services.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED
Valid Texas Educational Aide Certificate
Full Handle with Care Certification

Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to work instruct students and manage their behavior
Ability to provide compassionate care to students
Ability to work in multiple settings on different campuses
Ability to meet the physical demands of working with young children and adolescents.
Ability to communicate effectively
Ability to keep things confidential
Ability to implement interventions with fidelity
Must be organized and flexible
Must be comfortable working with computer based programs to assist in creating support materials for students

Experience:
Some experience working with children and adolescents

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Provide direct support to staff by modeling research based interventions
Coordinate with the RPS and school staff to implement interventions with fidelity
Keep individual students in classrooms focused on learning content
Collect behavior data with fidelity
Keep records of daily activities for assigned students
Assist RPS in preparing and developing intervention materials to implement in the classroom.
Assist in preparing and developing training materials for staff involved with students with challenging behaviors for the purpose of enhancing interventions provided by the RPS and/or teacher.
Provide assistance to the teacher and/or RPS in the behavior intervention for a student.
Conduct interventions assigned by the teacher and/or RPS while working with individual students who have been identified in need of behavior support.
Keep the teacher and/or RPS informed of needs, progress and/or lack of progress of individual students.
Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
Participate in meetings and special events as assigned.
Regular attendance.
Other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
None.

Copier, personal computer, and audiovisual equipment.

Maintain emotional control under stress. Moderate standing, stooping, bending, and lifting.
