Job Description & Requirements

  • Drives a Straight Truck and relieves a Route Service Driver based on the daily needs of the delivery operation (vacation, sick, etc.); not assigned to a specific route or day; delivers on a Straight or Pup Truck.

  • Deliver product to customers in an efficient, timely, courteous and accurate manner.

  • Ensure that all accounts are maintained according to the published schematics.

  • Secure and maintain distribution of all authorized company products.

  • Promote the addition and sales of new products.

  • Ensure sufficient route inventory levels to meet customer demands while adhering to account inventory control and company distribution procedures.

  • Submit all customer paperwork and deposits daily; including invoices, load orders, and handheld reports.

  • Maintain proper handheld records for all accounts.

  • Load or unload cases of product manually with hook, handcart or pallet*jack onto and off the truck.

  • Ensure load is properly secured.

  • Collect empty cases.

  • Resolve customer complaints.

  • Stock and/or rotate product on shelves or in cold room.

  • Reset product displays.

  • Must maintain idle time to company standards

  • Must be able to complete assigned route within DOT time regulations.

  • Implement and maintain plan o gram integrity and Point of sale material where needed.

  • Maintain a valid Class B CDL and current DOT medical card. Per Company and/or DOT regulations, report any moving violations to management immediately.

  • Checks load security prior to travel and at each stop, making adjustments when needed.

  • Know and comply with all Department of Transportation regulations per the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations handbook.

  • Complete all daily DOT and customer paperwork including delivery tickets, pre and post trip inspections, driver logs, and vehicle service reports.

  • Utilizing continuous improvement mindset, assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes.

  • Know and comply with all Department of Transportation regulations per the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations handbook.

  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices.

  • Maintain a clean, sanitary and safe work area.

  • Follow all required work safe practices. This would include wearing of all required PPE in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc.

  • Responsible for food safety, pre-requisite programs and food quality related to designated area.

  • Report any food safety and food quality related issues to management immediately.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • 6 months related experience required.

  • Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

  • Experience within the food and beverage industry preferred.

  • Must be able to drive, stand, walk, kneel, lift and bend required for virtually the entire shift. Balance-pulling product, climb in and out of truck. Ability to lift and/or move up to six cases on hand truck. (Cases weigh 20 to 55 lbs.).

  • Must be able to work in indoor and outdoor environment with moderate noise, sometimes slippery floors. Temperature range from 34-120 degrees F.

  • Must be willing to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends and holidays.

  • Be able to effectively work in a team environment.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.

  • Must possess and maintain a CDL Class B with Air Brake.

  • Must have a clean driving record.

  • Must be able to pass all pre-employment screens (including drug, background and criminal checks).

VIEW JOBS 11/8/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-06T00:00 Job Description This driver role is responsible for driving a tractor trailer or straight truck intrastate and/or interstate on local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and/or overnight routes to deliver and unload various food and food related products to customers. All routes are expected to be completed safely in accordance with all Company policies and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. The driver communicates and interacts with customers, vendors and co-workers professionally ensuring all services and duties are executed in accordance with preferred work methods and customer service practices. * Perform all required safety checks (i.e. pre/post trip) including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations; inspect tractor/truck and trailer to insure they meet company safety standards and take appropriate action as needed. Report all safety issues and/or repairs required. * Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies. Immediately report any and all safety hazards. * Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight. Perform count check of items and check customer invoices of products that have been loaded. Check and complete in an accurate and in legible fashion all required paper work associated with freight. * Drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule. * Unload products from the trailer, transport items into designated customer storage areas. Perform damage control checks on items, scanning and contact supervisor about removing orders according to company policy. Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures. Collect money (cash or checks) where required. Load customer returns on to trailer and secure trailer doors. * Ensure that tractor, trailer and freight are appropriately locked and/or secured at all times. * Unload damaged goods and customer returns and bring to the driver check-in and complete necessary paperwork. Unload all equipment, materials and remove trash from trailers as required. * Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keep trailers clear and clean as required. * Performs other related duties as assigned. Preferred Qualifications * 1+ years of commercial driving experience * Foodservice distribution industry experience * Onboard computer and electronic log system experience (i.e. PeopleNet) * Hand-held point of delivery scanning system experience (i.e. POD) * Customer service related work experience Required Qualifications * High school diploma/GED * Valid CDL A * Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable) * Must be 21 years of age * Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years * Pass pre-employment drug test * Pass road test * Valid current DOT Health Card and/or able to secure new DOT Health Card * Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift; product generally ranges from between 10-35 pounds and up to between approximately 60 and 90 pounds, depending on the location Performance Food Group Mckinney TX
