Your Role

Join Atlas Copco as a Rotordynamics Engineer where you will perform calculations and analyses of rotating equipment for integrally geared compressors using our prescribed tools and procedures. You will also support test and field troubleshooting efforts from issues related to bearings, vibrations, and rotordynamics. As part of the Analytical Engineering team, you will report to the Lead Mechanics Engineer and work with analytical engineers and production engineering teams.

• You will perform lateral and torsional vibration analyses and create technical reports.

• You will perform vibration analyses on rotating (pinions and bullgears) and non-rotating (bases and piping) components to ensure mechanical suitability.

• You will conduct and review impeller and base impacts tests for natural frequencies to ensure mechanical fitness.

• You will perform calculations for new gearing used in existing and new gearboxes.

• You will design and review data for fluid film bearings for new orders and development projects.

• You will size and select rotor components (bearings, pinions, and couplings) for new applications, production designs, and development projects.

• You will maintain Atlas Copco mechanical design standards and programs.

• You will support technical discussions with customers.

To succeed, you will need

• You hold a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

• You have at least 3 years of experience in turbomachinery design.

• You can occasionally travel, including national and international travel up to 5-10% annually

• In addition to the required qualifications, we are interested in candidates who have familiarity with rotordynamics, tribology, and vibrations analysis, fluid-film bearing design, programming (Python and VBA), and compressor design which will enhance their ability to excel in this role.
