Job Description:

Phillips-Medisize, a Molex Company, is seeking Engineers for our Engineering Rotational Program. The position offers the opportunity to learn many aspects of a contract medical device manufacturing organization. Our Rotational Program has been in existence for 30+ years! This is a full-time salaried position with expected placement at the end of the 18-month program at one of our U.S. based facilities.

Phillips-Medisize provides outsource design, development, and manufacturing services for high-tolerance molded parts for insulin injection pens and syringes; infusion pumps, glucose meters, and lancet devices for diabetics; surgical instruments for endoscopic and laparoscopic procedures; spinal surgery kits; pharmaceutical packaging; and plastics/silicone and metal moldings.

The Rotational Program Engineer:

  • Is typically in the Rotational Program for an 18-month period, involving up to three 6-month rotations at various Phillips-Medisize facilities in Wisconsin: Eau Claire, Hudson, Medford, Menomonie, New Richmond or Phillips. International assignment opportunities are available as well. Relocation assistance is provided.

  • Will learn about the Company's capabilities, work with a team of mentors and managers, and be exposed to senior engineers and management through group and individual activities.

  • Could be provided the opportunity to try different areas of engineering, our positions include: Quality, Project, Validation, Automation, Mechanical Design, Process, Manufacturing, Electrical and Embedded Software. Most participants will work in their engineering discipline and rotate to different locations/facilities.

  • Will be offered career development opportunities and career path training based on the Phillips-Medisize Engineering Training Matrix.

Position Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in one of these engineering disciplines:

  • Biomedical, Manufacturing, Plastics, Electrical, Computer Engineering, Mechanical, Materials Science, or Industrial.

  • Related intern/co-op experience.

  • 3.0+ GPA in core classes.

  • The candidate must be willing to move every 6 months.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Customer focused; demonstrate initiative; ability to identify problems and develop solutions.

  • Self-managing and can administer programs with an entrepreneurial mindset.

  • Clear and concise verbal communication and written documentation skills; teamwork is essential; organizational skills.

  • Understand injection molding, tooling, materials, part design, and affiliated processes; to include secondary operations and automation, is preferred for most roles.

Physical Requirements - Some positions may have vision requirements.

Essential Functions: * Develop product testing approaches by researching, analyzing, selecting, and applying test engineering concept approaches, techniques, and criteria; adapting and modifying test engineering options; developing and evaluating test methodologies * Develops and maintains product test evaluation program by preparing timetables, cost estimates, and required resources including test laboratories, personnel and equipment * Identifies product failures by establishing test standards, methods, test environment; analyzing and evaluating findings and failures; identifying root causes * Documents test studies by recording test results; preparing reports; and maintaining test database * Meet customer demands in a timely fashion * Setup of design of experiments (DOE) * Subject matter experience in the areas of injectable and inhalable drugs/biologics * Subject matter experience in electronic devices and design control compliance is a plus * Subject matter experience in test plan development * Extended travel to other facilities may be required to support business needs Position Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelor of Science Mechanical or other Engineering field with an MS preferred 2+ years test engineering in a similar industry/test lab (electro-mechanical testing/med device industry). Skills and Abilities: * Strong understanding of test standards, equipment and test lab methodologies * Preferred Medical Device Experience * Exposure to Material Testing * Competence in static and cyclic testing; data acquisition * Demonstrate track record of planning activities with contingency actions * Demonstrate strong written, verbal and interpersonal and communication skills * Working proficiency of Microsoft Excel and Visual Basic Programming; experience with LabView programming desired. * Strong understanding of test methods validations for Design Verification Testing * Demonstrated knowledge of the medical device product development processes and testing needs to support those development processes This position does not qualify for visa sponsorship.
