Rotating Equipment Specialist

Dow is looking for a highly motivated, self-directed, experienced person to fill a Mechanical Technologist Leader position in the Critical Rotating Equipment (CRE) Group of the Louisiana Operations Technical Support Organization in Plaquemine, LA.

The individual in this role is responsible for tasks related to planning and execution of CRE overhauls as well as supporting unplanned events. Spare parts repair, job reporting, and procedure updates are integral to this role to ensure continuous improvement.

Role responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provides technical knowledge and skill in the disassembly, inspection, repair and assembly of rotating equipment such as turbines and compressors.

  • Performs advanced troubleshooting on equipment issues.

  • Identifies solutions to resolve chronic/repeat failures.

  • Leads field execution providing subject matter guidance and coordinating the work of others to ensure successful equipment overhauls.

  • Assists in the development of procedures and quality control plans with the necessary repair details (clearances, tolerances) and ensures their consistent usage.

  • Assists Turnaround planning efforts with review of job scopes, parts inspection and procedure validation.

  • Coaches personnel on appropriate rotating equipment operating practices (including equipment support systems).

Required Qualifications


Education/Certification

Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.

  • Strong and diverse Millwright background is required.

  • 8+ years of heavy industrial equipment repair and replacement experience in an industrial manufacturing environment is required.

  • Proficiency with mechanical test and repair equipment (i.e. alignment tools, dial indicators, micrometers, etc.) is required and proficiency with Microsoft applications and computerized programs for job and reporting requirements (i.e. Word, Excel, SAP, etc.) is preferred.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. This position will interact with all levels of employees, disciplines, and functions in daily activities.

  • A valid driver's license is required.

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Additional Job Requirements:

  • This person will work a "4-10" work week: 10 hours a day work schedule Mon - Thu or a 9-80 schedule (9 hours a day and every other Friday off) with extended work hours when necessary

  • Some night or weekend work will be necessary depending upon plant needs

  • Individual must be physically able to work in the field including but not limited to climbing ladders, scaffold, stairs and lifting (not to exceed 50 lbs.). Individual must possess a certain degree of manual dexterity.

  • A minimum amount of travel for training or equipment support is required
