I. JOB SUMMARY
Provides service to patients and guests in the selection of Room Service meals and nourishments. Delivers condiments to patients and guest per request.
Delivers and retrieves patient trays, assist patients with menus if needed. Responsible for recording inputs and outputs after retrieving trays. Communicates with the expediter and call center in order to deliver meals promptly and correctly to the patients and guests.
Also responsible for communication with nursing for advancing diet as tolerated. Responsible for communication with Registered Dietitians for diet advancement and for patients that need nutritional evaluation.
II. JOB RELATIONSHIPS
A. Responsible to: Patient Services Manager
B. Supervised by: Patient Services Manager, Supervisor
C. Interrelationships: Works directly with patients, family members, nursing personnel, Registered Nurses, Registered Dietitians
A. Training and Experience:
At least one year experience of restaurant waitress experience required. Workers will receive on the job training.
B. Job Knowledge:
Knowledge of tray assembly procedure. Good understanding of proper handling of dishes and food to avoid infection of others or self.
IV. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1.Create maximum patient and guest satisfaction. Utilize interpersonal and customer service skills to create a positive interaction and outcome with all patients, guests, and staff.
Communicate with all staff to coordinate meal and/or nourishment delivery with treatment to trays as appropriate. Report concerns or complaints to proper personnel.
2.Communicate effectively with patients and guests to assist them with menu selection. Assist in making proper food selections that comply with prescribed diet and identified allergies.
Must accurately follow meal pattern for diets with quantity restrictions and communicate appropriate choices to patient. Assess patients ability to make menu choices via phone. Arrange meal service for patients who are unable or prefer not to select meals.
3.Generate menus for patients on modified diets, utilizing diet office compliance data and existing menu format. Generate reports of patients who have not eaten.
Inform clinical nutrition staff of patients referred for nutrition intervention. Record input/output and/or calorie count for clinical staff.
4.Collect payment for guest trays. Adhere to cash handling policies and procedures.
A. 6-2:30PM, 1:30-10:00PM, 7 days a week.
