Rolling Mill - Mill Services Mechanic (4255)

Commercial Metals Company is currently seeking a mechanic to join the Mill Services team at CMC Steel Texas Rolling Mill. This is a mechanical position for an employee possessing a safety-first attitude, working knowledge of mechanical equipment and gear, the ability to follow Rolling Mill stand set up sheets and utilize measurement tools. Under the direction of the Mill Services Foreman, the guide man mechanic works to set up stands and Mill gear to support the Rolling Mill production schedule.
This position works on an 8-hour shift schedule, overtime is available. If you are looking for an opportunity to grow your career, this is the job for you!
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Adhere to all company safety policies and practice safety leadership everyday
Maintain a safe and clean work environment
Set up Rolling Mill Stands/Gear to OEM specifications using an inventory of spares, hand tools, and set up sheets.
Understand mechanical prints to determine assemblies and tolerances for quality stand and guide set up.
Sustain proficiency with measuring equipment and techniques (micrometers, calipers, protractors, etc) and use these tools and techniques in building, changing and maintaining stands and guide boxes.
Maintain and keep accurate inventories of all stand and guide spare parts.
Sustain proficiency in teaching and using all other equipment and tools (crane rigging and operations; torch, welder, grinder, pneumatic tools, and hydraulic tools/equipment) to maintain effective Rolling Mill operations.
Engaged in recommendations for equipment, systems and process ideas that support continuous improvement regarding safety, equipment preservation, reduce non-value-added production time, conversion cost reductions, or in any other way that makes improvement in the Rolling Mill.
Experience and Skill Requirements
High School Diploma or GED required.
Field experience in mechanical and manufacturing environment is preferred.
Strong safety mindset and leadership.
Mechanical, hydraulic, analytical, and planning skills.
