Boeing Commercial Airplanes has an exciting opportunity for a Roll Form Operator B to join our team in Auburn, WA.

Operators in this position set up, operate and adjust rolls to, contour, flatten and/or straighten various types of material such as, sheet metal stock, extrusion and tubing for the manufacture of structural aircraft detail parts. Employment in this position also requires handling, standing, twisting at the waist, walking, flexion/extension, lifting 10-35 pounds, lifting less than 10 pounds, rotation of head/neck, contact with metals, exposure to noise and atmospheric conditions, and the use of personal safety gear for face/eye, hand/arm, ears and feet.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Obtain work package from ready to work rack, as delivered to work station or assigned by lead, supervisor, or run previously set-up job by reviewing tie-in from prior operator

  • Review Work Order (W/O) to determine requirements of work to be performed

  • Ensure that the correct type and quantity of material were issued

  • Obtain drawings, templates, Manufacturing Enhanced Data Sheets (MEDS), as required

  • Perform safety check of machine, ensure that the area around machine is clean of any obstacles (e.g., loose material, tools, oil spills), power switch is off, on pinch points, safety features/guards are installed and that roll is clear of any obstructions

  • Check fluid levels (e.g., hydraulic oil, grease) call maintenance/facilities to fill, as required

  • Down load numerical (NC) program to machine controller, initiate cycle to perform roll form operations, as required, per drawing

  • Handle materials to be rolled in such away that scratches and mars are held to a minimum

  • Use over head crane to move parts (e.g., to and from freezer), as required

  • Set up, adjust, position rollers for a given type of radius called out by drawing, (W/O), (e.g. half moon contour, corrugated, full coil spool) to prepare parts for heat treatment per (BAC) specifications, as required

  • Obtain heat treated parts from freezer, to flatten and/or straighten to drawing, (W/O) per (BAC) specifications, and perform hand work using rubber hammer, as required

  • Select proper machine accessories (e.g., rolls, dies, guide blocks, cams, shims), identify fixtures, shop aids or templates, as required

  • Assist higher grade employees to finish parts (e.g., hat sections, zee sections) by performing, manual roll form work, hand finish to correct shape and tolerance using (e.g., steel hammer, rubber mallet, arbor press, foot shrinker), check work against fixture/template, per (BAC) specifications

  • Ensure all detail parts are correctly identified and part marked (e.g., part number, ramac number) per (BAC) specifications, as required

  • Perform on line computer work using enterprise resource planner (ERP), at completion of job assignment

  • Transport finished parts, using appropriate material handling equipment (e.g., man aboard stacker), as required

  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in approved manner (e.g., oil coolants, shop towels)

  • Use precision measuring tools necessary to accomplish work assignments

  • Maintain personal and tool certification, as required

  • Contact fellow workers, lead, or supervisor when assistance is needed, or a problem arises

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Experience reading engineering blueprints/drawings

  • Basic computer skills

  • 1+ years of experience using hand tools and/or hand-held power tools

  • Able to read, write and speak English fluently

  • Experience using basic math (e.g. addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)

  • 1+ years of experience working with precision measuring tools

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience working in an assembly/manufacturing environment

  • Able to work 3rd shift & extended hours with short notice if needed to cover absences or adjoining shifts.

Typical Education:

High school graduate or GED preferred.

Relocation:

This position is located in a location that does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Shift:

This position is for 3rd shift.

  • This is an hourly position governed by the IAM Collective Bargaining agreement.

Summary pay range: $ 19.00 - $42.73
