Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Make short and long-range plans for each subject area of instruction and provides case management of the student's IEP

  • Consults with general education teachers regarding the accommodations and modifications needed by each IEP student on his/her caseload

  • Provide for individual differences in the learning needs of students

  • Provide a classroom climate that is based on mutual respect, rapport, fairness and consistency

  • Monitor student performance and be adaptable to current curriculum needs

  • Give students prompt and meaningful feedback on their performance

  • Support students in improving their self regulation skills

  • Inform parents of student progress in terms of grade-level expectations

  • Interact positively with students, colleagues, parents and community members

  • Direct student teachers, educational assistants, student tutors and parent volunteers when such personnel are utilized

  • Incorporate behavior and SEL goals with academic instruction

  • Handle student discipline and attendance problems and assist with the enforcement of all school rules

  • Work collaboratively with co-workers as part of a professional learning community

  • Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality about students

  • Perform job-related, non-teaching duties

  • Participate in staff development activities

  • Participate in school improvement and parent involvement activities

  • Perform other such duties as assigned by the building administrator

Qualifications:

  • Washington State Teacher Certification with appropriate endorsement.

  • Preference may be given to those with successful teaching experience at the primary school level.

  • Knowledge of subject matter in classroom instruction.

  • Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance.
