Purpose of Job:

The Robotics Simulation Engineer will support the development of industrial robotic programs for Divergent's flexible robotic manufacturing systems, core to the Divergent Adaptive Production System (DAPS). The ideal candidate will use their expertise in automated assembly systems, industrial robotics and off-line programming to develop and generate robotic programs for customer assemblies and ongoing internal R&D projects, while working with cross-functional teams to capture and integrate automation requirements into designs. Divergent is pushing the boundaries of technology and we need a passionate and agile engineer to help us create the platform for sustainable manufacturing.

Essential Job Functions and Performance Standards:

1)Create Simulation Studies in Process Simulate on Teamcenter (Tecnomatix)

2)Work with cross-functional stakeholders to capture and integrate product requirements to ensure manufacturability in automation systems.

3)Create and maintain customer product manufacturing data for automated assembly

4)Maintain kinematic libraries of hardware systems in robotic simulations

5)Generate new assembly sequences and validate feasibility and optimality

6)Perform robot reach and access studies

7)Perform Virtual Commissioning to validate assembly sequence logic and interference-free robot motions

8)Document automated manufacturing process and support process revision release

9)Review each new assembly sequence and final deliverables with Automation stakeholders

10)Support ongoing research and development of new automated manufacturing systems

Requirements:

Education:Required:

High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in manufacturing or electro-mechanical systems

Preferred:

Bachelor's Degree in Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent discipline.

Experience:

Required:

  • 1+ years performing Robotic Simulation studies for industrial robotic systems or 3+ years of hands-on programming of industrial robotic manipulators

Preferred:

  • 3+ years of Robotics Simulation work for industrial robotic systems or hands-on programming of industrial robotic manipulators, specifically KUKA

  • Generating and optimizing collision-free robotic motion paths and processes

  • Experience with analysis and optimization of robotic system layouts and processes

  • Experience with manufacturing automation in automotive or aerospace environments

  • Applications experience with robotic material handling, assembly, vision systems, adhesive systems, material removal, welding, or fastening

Skills:

Required:

  • Solid understanding of robot manipulation and kinematics

  • Ability to stay organized while working on multiple projects at different stages

  • Ability to thrive and deliver objectives in a quick moving, startup environment

Preferred:

  • Siemens Process Simulate on Teamcenter (Tecnomatix) or other Offline programming software (KUKA.Sim, Delmia, Visual Components, ABB Robot Studio, FANUC Roboguide)

  • Basic computer programming (XML, C++)

Physical Demands:

$91,800 - $132,500 a year
