BAE Systems, one of the world's leading defense contractors and a stable Fortune 500 company, has a new opportunity for a Robotic Programmer / Engineering Technologist. In this role, you will be the subject matter expert for our automated welding technology. This is a new position at our York, Pennsylvania manufacturing facility responsible for monitoring a robotic system, with the ability to improve processes. We prefer someone with welding knowledge, but we are willing to train the right person.

Essential Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Execution of new and modification of existing off-line programming using CAD based software for multiple applications in heavy welding aluminum and steel applications.

  • Implementation of online programming including process development of various processes such as steel and aluminum GMAW, GMAW-P, mechanical tools, etc

  • Execution, troubleshooting and modification of offline and online laser seam finding.

  • Hands-on verification, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the robotic equipment to ensure weld. quality meets or exceeds weld code compliance and production meets or exceeds schedule.

  • Interface with robotic integrator and any other supplier of parts on the robotic system to troubleshoot issues.

  • Teaching/training of technicians and or automation engineers offline and online programming, seam finding technique, etc.

  • Support purchase of new or modifications to existing robotic systems.

  • Recommendation and implementation of robotic system enhancements.

  • Team with production support and shop floor employees to ensure product is meeting or exceeding schedule.

  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by manager.

In the position you will work on unique one-off components for some of the largest hydroelectric machines in the world welding various thicknesses and grades of steel. The ideal candidate will possess a strong aptitude to learn and be able to pass ASME welder qualifications.   Responsibilities: * Basic discipline aptitude/attitude. * Shielded Metal Arc Welding (stick) 2G both SST & CS. * Flux Cored Arc Welding (Dual Shield) 2G, 3G both SST & CS. * Arcing, back gouging & NDE of back gouge. * Pass a welder and elementary blueprint reading course with 70% or better. * Grinding, clean and protect parts before leaving production area. * Perform 15 ton or less straight crane lifts.   Qualifications: * Must have a High School diploma or GED * Required * Gas Metal Arc Welding * Flux Cored Arc Welding * Preferred * Gas Tungsten Arc Welding * Submerged Arc Welding * Electro Slag Welding * Robot Welding / Plasma cutting * Plasma cutting by hand   Physical Demands: Employees in this position are regularly required to walk, stand and use hands to finger, handle or feel.
