The Roadway Engineer will be completing design efforts and overseeing/supporting production and support efforts for roadway projects within the Albuquerque Branch.


  • Perform calculations and analysis for roadway, drainage, and utility projects

  • CADD layout of highway plans and details

  • Compute horizontal and vertical geometry

  • Complete CADD modeling efforts for roadway and drainage design projects

  • Drainage analysis and design

  • Create and produce CADD drawings and details

  • Compose and develop technical reports, letters and memorandums

  • Quantity take-off and tabulation

  • Review shop drawing submittals

  • Work with AutoCAD, MicroStation, Microsoft Word, Project and Excel

  • Direct day to day activities for production staff on various projects

  • Perform out-of-office duties such as project site visits, site inspection and attend meetings

  • Potential roadway and civil design support to be performed on projects in other parts of the Western Region (Tempe, San Diego, Los Angeles, etc.)

  • Other assignments as needed


This position requires a B.S.C.E. degree, Engineer in Training or Professional Engineer license. General knowledge of roadway design documentation for public infrastructure projects in the State of New Mexico. Experience completing roadway design projects can range between 0 and 7 years for this position. Knowledge in both AutoCAD and MicroStation is desirable. Knowledge in both Civil 3D and InRoads design software is preferable.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science * Minimum 3 years' of relevant work experience in the cellular or telecommunications industry. * Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including knowledge of VB macro creation and worksheet manipulation in Excel, and PowerPoint usage. * Solid knowledge of RF theory and practice as well as LTE/VoLTE Technology * Good understanding of LTE network KPIs and key parameters. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science. * Eight or more years of experience in the cellular or telecommunications industry with direct experience in RF System Performance. * Experience in Design & Optimization of LTE/VoLTE networks. * Knowledge of propagation modeling software such as Planet EV, Atoll etc. – Expert level experience in Atoll a plus. * Model Tuning experience. * Proficiency in office computer applications: Various RF tools such as Mapinfo, post-processing software etc., Knowledge of SQL scripting, VB Scripting, other professional software. * Ability to develop software tools and scripts to maximize efficiencies for analyzing data and performing data integrity checks * Desirable programming languages are: Visual Basic or any other high level language * Experience with QxDM, TEMS, Nemo, Actix, JDSU E6474A * Experience with ZTE, ALU, Nokia, Ericsson, Cambium, and Ubiquiti wireless infrastructures RESPONSIBILITIES: * RF Design and planning for Commnet RAN Network, which includes RF analysis, search area issuance, candidate assessment, and approvals. * Redesigning mature network areas to minimize capacity constraints and improve SINR while working with other areas of network to ensure performance fixes/initiatives are in place. * Partnering with System Performance to improve various Network KPIs. * Leading/contributing to improve Process Flow and optimizing the flow to achieve higher efficiency. * Performing Macro 4G design including antenna selection and placement, utilizing knowledge of GSM, UMTS, HSPA+,FDD and TDD LTE, CDMA 1x, EVDO, Small Cell/DAS, WISP design and microwave to contribute in network design are key responsibilities. * Supporting the investigation and resolution of customer complaints. * Working on new cell sites, making sure site is properly integrated into network and optimized for peak performance. * Proactively looking for areas to improve overall network performance. Finding and resolving system issues on the network by utilizing traditional and non-traditional means. * Providing leadership and direction to your team as well as other network teams. * Interacting with cross functional teams to deploy and optimize components for best efficiency and reliability. * Providing subject matter expertise. Helping train new team members and mentoring current engineers. Providing presentations to other groups as required. * Taking ownership of issues and driving them to resolution.
