Position Description:

Our Austin, TX office is currently seeking a Designer to join the Roadway team. The candidate will develop concepts as well as work on preliminary engineering and final design for projects. This would include developing geometric alignments, profiles, surface modeling, cross sections, grading design, drainage, construction details, work zone traffic control, erosion control, and signing and striping plans.

Responsibilities:

  • Generate concept level plans using Microstation

  • Produce construction documents and exhibits using Microstation/ Open Roads 3D software, with the guidance of engineers

  • Generate earthwork quantities

  • Make revisions to plans based on redlined mark-ups

  • Manage deadlines for on-time submittals

Position Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Proficiency with Microstation SS4 (Geopak)/OpenRoads

  • 10+ years of relevant roadway experience with a civil engineering consulting firm

  • Past experience in the preparation of construction plans and documents

  • Ability to work independently and on a team

  • Strong work ethic, interpersonal communication/writing skills and desire to learn

 Play-Well TEKnologies (http://www.play-well.org) is an educational enrichment company that introduces children in grades K-8 to STEM concepts using LEGO® components. 

 We are hiring additional smart, creative, dynamic Engineering Instructors to deliver our great programs with current highest need in the greater Austin area. This part-time position includes paid training during spring followed by leading full day camp programs during the summer, and teaching daily after-school programs and some weekend birthday parties during the school year.

 Great part-time job for undergrad or graduate level college students! Buckle up - this is hard work! Lugging 40 pound totes in and out of your car, leading excited kids through challenging projects, managing classroom conflicts, cleaning up all that LEGO® - this will be the toughest job you'll ever love! 

 REQUIREMENTS: * Availability full weekdays M-F 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. during summer months, weekday afternoons and occasional weekends during school year. * Experience and passion for teaching K-8 students in a classroom or summer camp setting. * STEAM related coursework or experience a plus but not required - we provide training! * Must have a reliable vehicle to transport teaching materials and commute to teaching sites. * Willing to drive to lead programs wherever needed throughout the greater Austin which may include as far as New Braunfels and San Marcos. * Pre-employment background check is required. This is a part-time hourly position, 10 - 20 hours/week during school year, 30 - 40 hours/week during summer. Play-Well pays a minimum of 3 hours per daily class session. Paid drive time over 1 hour round trip/day. Pay rate is $14/hour during training, $16/hour full rate.
