Seeking One (1) Part-Time Roadside Assistant

Schedule is Thursday

  • Saturday- 6:30pm

  • 5:00am (Overnight) Additional hours may be available to cover days off, vacations, business need, etc.

Position reports to the Administrative Headquarters located just south of I-70 on E-470. Must be able to pass a Pre-employment drug test and background check.

Compensation is $19.16 per hour.

The Roadside Assistance provides roadside assistance to stranded motorists, including tire changes, battery jumps, filling overheated radiators, providing gasoline, etc., and keeping the E-470 Beltway free of minor road hazards and trash. The Roadside Assistance will also pick up debris on the roadside 15 minutes out of every hour. This debris pickup will be done by walking the road right of way collecting litter and trash and depositing into plastic bag. These bags will then be loaded into a vehicle and transported to a central collection point and deposited into dumpsters. Small animal carcass removal may be required (a vendor service is in place for large animal removal.)

The Roadside Assistance may be reassigned on a permanent or temporary basis to other locations, other shifts, or other schedules, to balance manpower or meet the needs of the company.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

The following statements of duties, responsibilities, frequency and percentages are intended to describe the general nature and level of the work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities, frequency and percentages may vary depending on shift assignments and other factors.

35% Patrolling road, toll plazas and maintenance sites to ensure security measures are in place. Delivering inter-office mail and other supplies as needed.

30% Providing our customers with roadside assistance to include tire changes, fuel, radiator and oil refills, battery jump starts, and cell phone assistance.

20% Responding to accidents and incidents occurring on the toll way and providing traffic control measures while assisting police, fire and EMS personnel.

15% Removing litter and debris by walking the road right of way collecting litter and trash and depositing into plastic bag. These bags will then be loaded into a vehicle and transported to a central collection point and deposited into dumpsters. Small animal carcass removal may also be required.

Essential Functions:

  • Must be able to lift and handle up to 70 lbs. and place in the bed of a truck. With assistance, is occasionally required to lift heavier objects.

  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle.

  • Must be able to use Microsoft windows, Outlook, and Word and Excel on a daily basis.

  • Must possess a valid, up-to-date Colorado License and have an excellent driving record.

  • Must be able to provide emergency and non-emergency roadside service to customers and observe proper safety practices at all times to avoid accidents and injuries.

  • Must be able to discern dangerous situations and avoid being struck by high speed traffic which will be operating within 10' of work areas.

  • Must be able to perform constant physical labor including stooping, bending, lifting, twisting, etc. outdoors in all weather conditions for full shift.

  • Must be able to communicate on a cell phone/radio with the Communication Center and others.

  • Transportation of mail and supplies from plazas to the E470/MHTS Administrative Headquarters Facility.

  • Perform required paperwork and maintain daily logs and incident reports.

  • Maintains a clean, professional appearance and demeanor.

  • Removing roadway hazards and maintaining litter control of the tollway.

  • Keeping Roadside Assistance vehicle clean and inventory intact.

  • Assist in traffic control when necessary.

  • Pick up debris on the roadside 15 minutes of every hour.

  • May be required to cover other days and shifts for vacations and sick days.

  • Work in all kinds of weather conditions while maintaining safety to yourself and others.

Skills, Knowledge, Equipment & Other:

Requires the ability to think and act calmly and decisively during emergency and non-emergency situations while working in an outdoor environment to include all types of weather conditions and traffic situations. Must have good oral and written communications skills. Knowledge of car care procedures and the ability to use equipment such as auto jacks, booster cables, impact wrenches, air compressor and general tool sets. Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word. Maintaining hand written logs and incident reports. May be required to work overtime on both a scheduled and emergency basis. Subject to after-hours recall which may be due to but not limited to emergencies on the road, weather conditions, illness. Must be able to communicate proficiently in English.

Supervisory/Technical Responsibility:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Acts as a labor resource for the E470/MHTS staff by providing litter control and customer assistance to our customers and public safety agencies.

Dress code requirements, this is not an all inclusive list: Unnatural hair colors are inappropriate, sideburns, mustaches and beards should be neatly trimmed. Nose stud, tongue stud and simple ear piercings are allowed.

Job Requirements


High school diploma or GED required.


Requires a minimum of one year of general work experience, preferably in an outdoor environment. Experience with automotive care is a plus.


  • Valid State of Colorado Class R Drivers License.

  • National Incident Management System 100, 200, 340, 700 Certifications is a plus.
