Summary/Objective
The Roadside Assistance Technician operates a service vehicle (tow truck wheel lift or light service truck) and responds to dispatched roadside assistance calls that require a tow, jump start, lock- out, fuel replenishment, tire change and other minor mechanical assistance.
Essential Functions
Receives service calls from dispatch department and drives to the location to assess service required.
Attempts to resolve service required by performing jump starts, gas replenishment, and changing flat tires.
Tow vehicles to repair facility when required.
Practices safety/security requirements and procedures
Communicates with dispatch department throughout call in order to monitor progress
Prepares daily reports on services rendered. Completes a vehicle and equipment checklist daily.
Cooperates and assists other personnel in the repair and prepping of vehicles
Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations that affect body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
Maintains a clean and safe work area
Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner
Attends pertinent training on request
Other duties as assigned
