Job Summary:

Requires close supervision until able to practice with a greater degree of independence. Knowledgeable of the nursing process and the professional standards of nursing. Applies knowledge of basic growth and development to perform assessments. Provides care based on the physical and psychosocial needs of the patient. RN Residency program requires a 18 month employment contract with CHI Memorial.

Essential Duties:

  • Completion of 10-12 week Orientation period with classroom, Lab, simulations hands on training and Observations of various procedures.

  • Assesses and interprets patient status/information based on knowledge of growth/development and age; recognizes basic changes based on the assessment.

  • Prioritizes, initiates, and delegates appropriate interventions based on assessed patient need.

  • Demonstrates ability to administer medication and treatments safely and effectively based on age and development of patient.

  • Demonstrates the ability to use, maintain, and troubleshoot patient care equipment.

  • Initiates discharge planning based on assessed needs and follows through as appropriate.

  • Completes all patient care documents according to policy (i.e., Nursing Notes, Admission Assessments, MAR's, Restraint Document, etc.).


  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required
  • BSN Preferred


  • Recent graduate beginning clinical practice or returning to practice after a prolonged absence


  • Active RN license in the state within 2 weeks of program start
  • AHA BLS required.
  • AHA ACLS required on select units within 12 months.

VIEW JOBS 11/6/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-04T00:00 Pay Grade: 38 THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN CHATTANOOGA, TN JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Residency Coordinator provides direction, leadership and day-to-day management and continuity of the educational and departmental activities related to pediatric residency training programs. This position provides educational coordination between attending physicians, residents, medical students, and institutional and regulatory administrative offices. This position coordinates and administers human resource ordinary functions and participate in budget and financial processes; and act for and make decisions in the Program Directors absence. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Ensures housestaff compliance with established policies and procedures. * Manages and coordinates GME conducted accreditation site visits for program. * Maintains web based GME accreditation data system and surveys for program, collecting and evaluating information from various sources throughout the campus. * Prepares and submits reports to GME, American Board of Medical Specialties, American Academy of Specialties, American Association of Medical Colleges, AMA and other professional organizations as required. * Develops new procedures in response to new or revised policies issued by governing agencies or program director based upon independent judgment. * Manages the operations of the residency program to include budgeting, auditing, procurement, marketing, resident benefits, compliance, and accreditation activities. * Documents and credentials graduate medical education training conducted within the department including initiation and writing credentialing documents as required by housestaff and completion of credentialing forms for signature by appropriate medical staff; maintenance of housestaff personnel records, including confidential evaluation and counseling records. * Plans, organizes and schedules new housestaff orientation. * Creates resident rotation schedules; creates monthly resident conference schedules. * Performs other duties as required. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED) EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of experience with a higher education institution applying accreditation standards or government regulations preferred; OR a combination of college coursework and GME related work experience to equal ten (10) years. Thorough knowledge of web based applications, database management, and software applications required. Excellent oral and written communication skill; ability to multitask; and ability to interact with individuals of diverse cultures, religions, and languages.
