JOB SUMMARY:

The Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit has 12 critical care beds in all private rooms. The CVICU is the designated intensive care unit for all adult critically ill, cardiothoracic- and cardiovascular-related medical and surgical patients.

Patients may be recovered in the CVICU postoperatively. The patients will remain in the CVICU until downgraded to a telemetry status at which time the patient may be transferred to a telemetry floor, medical surgical floor, or to an appropriate outside facility.

The RN inpatient Nurse assesses patient health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, and maintain medical records. The inpatient Registered Nurse administers nursing care to ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled patients.

The RN may advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention. The inpatient RN will maintain accurate, detailed reports and records and administer medications to patients while monitoring for reactions and side effects. The RN will monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse by state of employment or holds a multistate RN license through the interstate Nurse Licensure Compact.

BLS required prior to orientation completion.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred

Six months RN experience preferred.
