  • Days/Nights/Weekends

Unit 72 is a 19-bed inpatient acute care unit with highly skilled and engaged team of clinicians providing care to patients with stroke (acute or history of), seizures, encephalopathy, headaches, migraines, meningitis, as well as other neurologically unstable patients.

Likewise, the unit houses competent clinicians who are trained to care for patients with medical diagnoses such as diabetes ketoacidosis, hypertensive crisis, pulmonary embolism, failure-to-thrive to mention a few. These clinicians provide patient/family education, and often serve as advocates for patients and families. This, they do through partnership and collaboration with related interdisciplinary professionals. A great percentage of these nurses hold certifications such as SCRN(Stroke certification), RN-BC or CMSRN (Medical-Surgical certification), Advanced Practice Registered Nurse

  • FNP. Recognized as the first unit to successfully welcome LPNs in an acute care setting at Emory.

Unit Stats:

  • Average Daily Census: 16

  • Average Length of Stay: 5-7 days

  • Patient to RN Ratio: 1 to 4-5

  • Patient to RN-LPN ratio: 1 to 7

  • Patient to PCT Ratio: 1 to 9-10

  • Charge Nurse all shifts; including weekends

  • Unit leaders easily accessible

  • Nurse Supervisor available to support the team after hours and on weekends

  • MD on unit

  • Unit upholds team work from all team member.

  • Team based nursing care delivery model.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing 12 months of recent nursing experience within the past five years or recent completion of a re-entry nursing program.

  • Must have a valid, active unencumbered Nursing license or temporary permit approved by the Georgia Licensing Board.

  • BLS certification required and ACLS may be required in designated departments.

  • Exceptions: Individuals currently employed as a LPN within the EHC system at the time of completion of an accredited RN program and becoming licensed as a RN will be considered eligible to move to the Nurse Clinician title while matriculating through the Resident program.
