Rn/Lpn - FT - PM

TITLE: RN (Staff Nurse)/LPN

PURPOSE: Implements care, administers medication and treatments for assigned residents.

CURRENT OPEN POSITION:

64 hr PM position available in 50 bed Long Term Care setting for RN's/LPN's.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.Prepares and administers medications and medical and nursing treatment and nursing treatment to meet medical orders and the interdisciplinary plan of care as assigned, during specific work shifts. Utilizes medication cart. Is subject to frequent interruptions.

2.Makes observations regarding resident health status and shares information (i.e. physical changes in skin coloring, texture, or temperature, change in respiratory sound) with the Charge Nurse. Makes independent decisions when circumstances warrant.

3.Participates in notification of families of new orders, changes in condition and physician visits as delegated. Must be able to

deal tactfully with these persons, who may be hostile and/or emotionally upset.

4.Documents pertinent resident care and observations using common medical terms for residents assigned to them. Utilizes

manual and computer documentation, as outlined in Good Shepherd Services policy.

5.Assists in direct resident care such as handling or moving residents.

6.Participates in development and maintenance of current and accurate interdisciplinary care plan as delegated. Incorporates new

orders and changes in condition as delegated.

7.Responds to emergency and/or life threatening situations and provides whatever assistance is required.

8.Participates in implementation of admission and discharge of residents as delegated.

9.Maintains resident confidentiality and privacy.
