Job Responsibilities

Thisposition is accountable for the daily patient care operations of the assigneddepartment, working under the direction of the Nurse Manager on assignedshifts. Responsible for daily patientcare assignments, maintaining clinical standards of care, maintaining laborproductivity and supervision of the patient care environment; supporting thecare team.

Supports the activities ofthe Nurse Manager. Maintains positiveinter- and intra-departmental relationships. Directs patient throughput activities in the assigned unit. Maintainsevidence-based nursing practices to achieve desirable patient outcomes inaccordance with the Kentucky Nurse Practice Act.

Essential Functions
1.Provides directsupervision of personnel practicing on Nursing Units, makes patient careassignments, evaluates assignments, facilitates patient throughput, anddirectly observes staff performance on assigned shift.
2.Proactively matchesexisting resources seeking ways to provide patient care that supports staff andmaintains a therapeutic environment
3.Monitors productivityand assures that staffing and resources are aligned with patient care needs.
4.Communicatespersonnel related concerns to Unit Manager.
5.Uses a logical,systematic approach to problems and problem-solving.
6.Facilitates Patient Experiencebest practices on the unit (hourly rounding, etc.
7.Maintains Unit Professional standards. Holds staff accountable for behaviors andattitudes.
8.Maintainsconfidentiality of information of the department. Assists in audits and data collection as requested.
9.Contributes to theefficient operation of the department.
10. Performs direct patient care and accepts an assignedgroup of patients as needed.

Job Requirements

Education /Accreditation / Licensure (required & preferred): Position requires a Kentucky/ Compact Statelicensed Registered Nurse, BLS.

Experience(required and preferred): 1 years RNexperience required; 1 years of management experience. BSN preferred.

Assists the Nurse Manager /Director in discipliningemployees. Essential Functions 1. Serves as the RN inCharge of the Department and provides direct supervision of personnelpracticing in nursing service areas, makes patient care assignments, evaluatesassignments, facilitates patient throughput, and directly observes staffperformance on all shifts, including periodic weekend presence. 2. Assists nurse managerin interviewing, onboarding, mentoring and evaluating new staff members. 3. Does real-timeeducation of staff as needed. 4. In collaboration withNurse Manger/Director, prepares and delivers 90- day and annual performanceevaluations of assigned staff members. 5. Monitors productivityand assures that staffing and resources are aligned with patient care needs. 6. Communicatespersonnel related concerns to Nurse Manager and assists Nurse Manager withpreparing and delivering corrective actions to employees. 7. Maintains unit professionalstandards and regulatory compliance: (standards, competencies, certifications,etc.) 8. Assists the NurseManager with investigation and follow up on reported patient care events, andholds staff accountable to approved corrections, processes and practices. 9. Follows up on patientand physician concerns as appropriate. 10. Contributes to thesuccess of the Nursing Division by completing projects as needed. 11. Teaches, monitors andsupports best practices to enhance Patient Experience. 12. Assists with monitoring and data collection ofunit quality initiatives 13. Assists Nurse Managerwith staff schedules, payroll etc. 14. Other tasks asassigned to support unit operations as directed by the Nurse Manager/Director Job Requirements / Qualifications Education / Accreditation / Licensure(required & preferred): Position requires a Kentucky/ Compact State licensed Registered Nurse,BSN preferred. Bachelor's required orworking toward BSN (as below) BLS and ACLS certification required Experience(required and preferred): If BSN or Bachelor's: minimum 2 years RNexperience, 3-5 years nursing experience preferred, Charge nurse experiencepreferred.
