The Wound Care RN performs the primary function of a RN in Skin and wound assessment, planning, implementing and evaluating the care of patients in the In-House Wound and Ostemy Team. Communicates and collaborates closely with physicians, inpatient nurses, Wound Care staff and other members of the health care team to provide consistent quality care for patients.
Works with a high degree of autonomy. The RN works within the framework of the Texas Nurse Practice Act and follows all hospital policies and procedures.
Our Wound and Ostemy team nurse is consulted by physicians and staff to follow patients with would and ostemy needs in every department in the hospital.
Desired skills: WOCN Certified or Certified Wound Care Associate or Certified Would Care Specialist.
St David's Medical Center utilizes complete computerized charting (Meditech) for patient assessment and care documentation, and eMAR to electronically record medication administration for the delivery of all medications provided to their patients. To maintain Part Time status, a minimum of two shifts per month are required.

Nursing Diploma or ASN; BSN preferred.
Previous experience in an acute care setting strongly preferred.
Current Texas State Registered Nurse license.
Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider (BLS certification).
Lifting 50 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, ability to follow verbal instructions, PC skills.
