Pay $41.00 - $45.00 an hour

The Registered Nurse Trainer will be responsible for providing trainings in classroom settings as well as residential sites, day programs and schools. Under the direction of the Clinical Supervisor of Nursing, this RN is responsible for planning, implementing and organizing staff education programs to meet the needs of the individuals that are served in various divisions across the organization.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provides training for the Direct Support Professionals that are in identified Authorized Medication Administration Person (AMAP) positions.

  • Provides training (as needed due to program requirements) for the AMAP using the tube feeding curriculum provided by OPWDD.

  • Provide insulin training to AMAPs per OPWDD guidelines

  • Provide infection control for licensure training to all nurses once certified.

  • Provide colostomy care training for staff that are required per OPWDD guidelines

  • Keep up to date on all current policies and changes related to training made by OPWDD.

  • Provides instruction that supports the learning objectives identified in the coursework.

  • Demonstrates appropriate preparation for the coursework being presented.

  • Develops and maintains an environment conducive to learning.

  • Utilizes a variety of teaching methods to enhance the learning experience of the staff.

  • Assists in completing training passes with direct support professionals who have successfully completed the AMAP or tube feeding coursework.

  • Provides clinical training for nursing staff if a new skill or procedure is implemented.

  • On-going evaluation of the trainings provided and their effectiveness.

  • Orders necessary training materials and supplies.

  • May work with new hire nurses and new AMAPs one-on-one to assist with completing trainings with specific tasks.

  • Ensures maintenance of training records for all coursework presented.

  • Collaborate with the HR Training Specialists to ensure all medical training is documented tracked.

Qualifications

  • New York State Registered Nurse Licensure.

  • Minimum Associates Degree in Nursing, Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years of related experience.

  • This position requires some travel. Must have a valid NYS Driver's License
