Registered Nurses to join our Emergency Department Nurse Residency Program!

The Emergency Nursing Residency Program ("ED 101") is a comprehensive blended (classroom and clinical) educational program developed by the Emergency Nurses Association's expert emergency nurse authors, based on the latest, evidence-based Guidelines for Emergency Nursing Practice. This program combines a standardized evidence-based online curriculum and textbook readings with hands-on skills labs and a clinical practicum led by experienced emergency nurses.

Program Purpose:

To provide registered nurses who have no previous experience in emergency nursing with the basic knowledge and clinical skills necessary to function independently in an entry- level emergency department nursing position.

Overview and timeline:

This blended program combines a standardized, evidence-based online curriculum and textbook readings with hands-on skills labs and a clinical practicum, which consists of eight (8) weeks of didactic training followed by anywhere from twelve (12) to twenty (20) weeks of clinical experience depending on baseline experience.

In order to successfully complete the program, candidates must receive a passing grade on module exams.Upon successful completion of program modules, candidates will move forward to clinical specialty training.

Candidate requirements:

  • Candidates must be clinically sound, self-driven, compassionate and motivated with a passion for the emergency nursing

  • Satisfactorily completed the probation period in his/her current job (internal candidates).

  • Those with less than 12 months of employment will be encouraged to apply and will be considered in compliance with the criteria of the Collective Bargaining Agreement

  • External candidates and new graduate RN's will be considered

  • An essay describing your interest in emergency nursing at Norwalk Hospital

  • Must have a current CT RN License.

  • Must have a BSN.

  • Must have current BLS.

Criteria for program completion:

  • Successful completion of the ENA modules as assigned daily.

36 Hour Positions Available, shifts may be Day/Eve or Straight Night

Danbury Hospital Work Type: Full-Time Standard Hours: 40.00 Summary: Position will be the Team Leader for the Sterile Processing Department, responsible for the evening operation of the department. This includes supervising employees in the coordination, monitoring, and deployment of SPD products for procedures occurring during the evening, and preparing SPD products for the next day's OR cases. Responsibilities: 1. Responsible for the evening operation for the department, where employees are supervised in the decontamination and sterilization of products and instruments. 2. Coordinates the staff preparation of instrument and supply case picks for the next day's OR cases, using the modified cart system. 3. When necessary, performs manual and physical duties of a CSS Technician. 4. Maintains standards for sterilization per Joint Commission and regulatory agencies during evening hours. 5. Prepares work assignments for staff during evening shift. 6. Monitors and educates staff on the use of pick tickets and case cards to ensure 100% accuracy and completion of case carts. 7. Transfers critical information on status of sterilization, supplies, and instruments to the department manager.
