SUMMARY:

I. The Team Leader is responsible for the quality of the care provided to patients during their shift. Functions as care coordinator.

A. Maintains high standards of patient care:
1.Participates, evaluates and reports PI Plan.
2.Accountable for staff guidance through PI plan.

B. Promotes high standards in Human Resources:
1.Rewards unit staff through awards and recognition.
2.Assists with the evaluation of staff.
3.Responsible for staff discipline while on duty.

II. The Team leader is responsible for resource management within the department:

  • Meets professional requirements in a timely manner and is attentive to detail:

a. Patient Assignments

b. Promotes adherence to quality initiatives.

B. Risk management

C. Plans activities in an organized, accountable manner:

D. Plans patient care in an organized, accountable manner.

E. Evaluates patient care outcome.

F. Acts as a professional role model by actively participating in patient care.

G. Leads patient care team on designated shift.

H. Completes leadership rounds.

I. Attempts to create improved patient and staff conditions through creativity and innovativeness in coordinating patient care.

J. Shows concern for effective use of resources and equipment.

K. Involves unit staff in planning.

L. Responds positively to changing circumstances.

M. Coordinates accurate calculation of patient acuity and workload (staffing) data. Makes assignments accordingly.

N. Monitors clinical conditions.

O. Displays confidence and effectiveness in leadership role.

  • Remains visible in the department to physicians and staff members.

  • Allocates resources to keep continuous flow of patient care.

  • Maintains knowledge of patients within the department and delegates duties to enhance patient flow.

  • Supports and promotes patient satisfaction goals.

  • Rounds on patients to enhance patient satisfaction.

  • Promotes teamwork and monitors staff members (work performance) output, offering solutions to improve performance.

  • Conferences/coaches staff members who require redirection, (collaborates with Director/Clinical Supervisor as needed). Documents actions taken.

  • Makes patient/room assignments when on duty.

  • Monitors that PI checks are performed by assigned team members.

  • Will be a responsible nurse advocate for patients and patients' families during crisis situation.

III. The Team Leader is responsible for upholding Leadership Standard in the department.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:

A. One (1) year experience required.

B. Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Louisiana.

C. Experience with role of charge nurse.

D. Certification preferred.

E. Preferred Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Business, Health Care Administration, or equivalent experience.

F. Current CPR certification; advanced certification preferred if appropriate for area of clinical practice.

  • Various types of medical instruments & equipment

VIEW JOBS 12/5/2019 12:00:00 AM 2020-03-04T00:00 Location: LGMC Surgery Employment Status: Full Time SUMMARY: The registered nurse provides nursing care according to the physician's orders and in conformance with the ANA Standards of Practice and Care, ANA Code of Ethics, unit specific standards, patient care policies and procedures, unit specific policies and procedures, and the Louisiana Nurse Practice Act. The RN is responsible and accountable for individual, autonomous nursing practice and determines the appropriate delegation of tasks and nursing activities in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: The nurse may be placed in the charge nurse role. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: § The Specialty RN will fulfill all essential duties and responsibilities of the RN job description below as well as the following: 1. Will be a resource to other units within the hospital for specific patient care needs including but not limited to, administering chemotherapy, providing specialized surgical/procedural intervention and/or responding to Codes and RRT's. 2. These nurses will maintain their skills and knowledge as well as applicable certifications within their specialty. § The Registered Nurse will perform a comprehensive nursing assessment, develop and implement a patient treatment plan consistent with the objectives of the multi-disciplinary treatment plan § The patient and family members will be included in the patient care planning and setting of discharge objective § Implements nursing care through services such as case management, health instructions, health counseling, and providing care supportive to restorative of life and well being § In executing the health care regimens as prescribed by licensed physicians, dentist, or other authorized prescriber, the RN performs a comprehensive nursing assessment of a individual patient consistent with established standards of care, identifies health care needs, establishes appropriate nursing diagnosis, establishes goal to meet the identified health care need, plans nursing care measures, documents appropriately, interprets data accurately in relation to patient care consideration, sets priorities, communicates with all members of the health care team, delegates nursing interventions to qualified personnel in accordance with State Board of Nursing criteria § The RN collaborates with physicians, dentists, and other health care providers in the management of the patient's care and evaluates the human responses to all interventions § Provides individualized health education to the patient and family members from admission through discharge using any appropriate methods/resources necessary to meet the education goals, prepares the patient for diagnostic or surgical procedures, implements holistic therapeutic measures to promote healing and wellness § Communicates effectively with all age groups, which pertains to the patient population served § Demonstrates competency and knowledge of current standards of practice, administers treatments as per standards, interprets normal parameters of diagnostic data, reports abnormalities of diagnostic data in a timely manner, administers blood and blood components as per standards, and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to the age-specific needs § Documents accurately and completely in the EMR and other forms as per established standards.
