Qualifications:
Graduated from an accredited Bachelor's in Nursing or a Master of Science in Nursing
Associate in Nursing Degree may be considered for current Huntington Hospital employee, must be currently enrolled in a BSN program and commit to completing within 3 years from date of transfer/promotion.
Newly graduated Registered Nurse with a total of less than one year of nursing experience in any area by the start of the program
Valid California Registered Nursing License

Definitive Observation Unit (DOU) - 2 West is Adult Step-down Telemetry Unit focused on caring for adult/geriatric acutely ill patients that require continuous cardiac monitoring. These patients include, but are not limited to those suspected of, or having cardiac diseases, multiple trauma, respiratory diseases, sepsis, and or other medical surgical issues who are hemodynamically stable and do not require the intensive care unit.
Neurosciences Stroke Center (Neuro) - Neuroscience Stroke Telemetry Unit, Comprehensive Stroke certified. The Neurosciences Stroke Unit provides constant neurological and cardiac monitoring (via telemetry) for all neurological and stroke patients. The type of patients the Neuroscience Stroke Center serves includes but is not limited to transient ischemic attack, myasthenia gravis, multiple sclerosis, Guillain-Barre syndrome, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, seizures, cranial nerve disease, meningitis, stable traumatic brain injury and stable spinal cord injury.

Medical Surgical/Telemetry 4 West
Medical Telemetry Station 45 - serves patients with a wide variety of medical diagnosis. The department offers inpatient medical services including Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, Respiratory, Renal, Neurology, and Endocrine disorders, as well as mechanically ventilated patients who do not meet the DOU nor the ICU care criteria may be admitted in Station 45 using the following criteria.
Surgical Unit (Ortho/Neuro/Spine) 6E - primarily serves patients with orthopedic surgery and neuro-spine, not limited to trauma. The department offers inpatient pre and post-surgical services including the following: Joint replacement, elective orthopedic surgery, internal fixation, craniotomy, laminotomy, head trauma, and other elective neurosurgery. Medical care may be provided to a wide variety of diagnoses.
General Medical Unit
Surgical/Telemetry Unit
Medicine/Oncology 6W - patients with diagnoses of cancer and those undergoing chemotherapy as well as radiation therapy. The department offers inpatient medical services including Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, Renal, Neurology, Endocrine, Hematology, Surgical Oncology, and Radiation Therapy with specific nurse competencies in Oncology. Administration of intravenous, intramuscular, intrathecal, and subcutaneous chemotherapy agents
Job Summary:
Responsible for coordination of care to meet identified needs of the patient/family. Supervises the management of patient care utilizing critical thinking and nursing process, discharge planning, resource identification, linking and scheduling patients with required services, monitoring care delivery, advocating for the patient, care planning and evaluating outcomes. Coordinates patient care across the health care continuum, and assists other team members with meeting individual patient needs.
This position may require flexibility of hours.
12 hour shifts at Huntington Health are overtime-based (not a straight time rate for all 12 hours). Therefore, employees who work a full 12-hour shift will be paid their base rate for 8 hours AND overtime (1.5) for hours up to 12.
Education:
For internal promotions to a RN New Grad or for hires between 9/1/15
Effective for New Hires after 5/1/18, BSN or higher required.
Diploma or transcripts on highest degree earned required.
Licenses/Certifications:
Current active unrestricted RN license issued by State of California required.
Current American Heart Association BLS Provider required.
Current American Heart Association ACLS Provider required within three months of employment if applicable to your position.
NIHSS certification required within 90 days of hire/transfer if applicable to your position.
