POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for the deliver of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosing, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Responsible for directing and coordinating all nursing care for Pediatrics (and potential medical surgical overflow) patients based on established clinical nursing practices standards. Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. Serves in the Resource Nurse role when oriented and directed. Supports the organization vision and mission. Utilizes knowledge of patient's age and cultural diversity into the provision of patient care. Contributes to the provision of quality nursing care through performance improvement techniques that demonstrates positive outcomes in patient care.

Responsibilities:

  • The Registered Nurse demonstrates advanced knowledge, skills and understands the unique aspects of the population served in the care of his/her patients.

  • Each service also requires specialized skills.

  • The delivery of care is based on the physical, psychosocial, cultural, safety and learning needs of the individual patient.

  • The Registered Nurse may rotate to areas other than his/her assigned service area/s, and will perform only those duties for which he/she has demonstrated competency.

  • The Registered Nurse performs delegated duties consistent with the scope of practice and functions within the philosophy and overall plan of care delivery at SMC.

  • Demonstrates good organizational skills. Provides safe and appropriate patient care within the Values & Standards of Nursing Practice at SMC.

  • Displays appropriate judgment and problem solving skills.

  • Communicates positively and professionally with all internal and external customers.

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

  • Compact RN license or Colorado RN license accepted upon hire, CO license required within 90 days of hire.

  • Current BLS Certification with the American Heart Association.

Education:

  • 2 year Associate RN Degree/Diploma.

  • 4 year RN Bachelor Degree preferred.

Position Details: FTE Status: Part Time Shift: Days FTE: 0.500000 (FTE x 80 = hours per pay period) Responsibilities: Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care plans based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate. Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs. Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances. Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider and any relevant life support certification as determined at position level. Minimum Experience: 6 months nursing experience. * BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire. All life support certification cards must be issued by either the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer. (American Red Cross for the Professional Rescuer is only good upon hire and all renewals will need to be through an American Heart Association sanctioned course.)
