Job Summary

The nurse provides professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long term care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician. Demonstrates knowledge of nursing principles for the resident in the relevant clinical setting.

Demonstrates competency and practices within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge and utilizes appropriate age and population specific standards related to the physical and psychosocial needs of the resident as per care plan. Possess the ability to perform testing to evaluate data reflective of the resident's status and to provide the care needed. Demonstrates ability to recognize problems, recommend solutions and respond effectively to assist in an emergent situation.

Ensures the health, comfort and safety of residents. Contributes to the assessment of residents and administers medications or treatments as ordered.

Provides technical support to healthcare professionals as needed. Documents resident interactions as needed and the outcomes related to resident care, medication, behavior, activity, and dietary. Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with resident, health care providers, and the public.

Ability to work effectively with professional and supportive personnel as a member of an interdisciplinary care team. Ability to communicate clearly and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Counsels residents, family members and/or resident advocate, under the direction of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider or physician on prevention and treatment plans.

Knowledge of resident education principles to develop a self-care program. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited nursing program. Associate degree in nursing is preferred.

Must have attended a pre-licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the life span as part of the curriculum or have had a minimum of 400 hours of experience at another facility. Specific services/positions may have additional education, training or experience requirements.

Currently holds an unencumbered license with State Nursing board and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications. Completes required annual continuing education units (CEU) and competency training requirements of the department and facility.

Vibra Hospital of Central Dakotas, located in Mandan, ND is a 41 bed LTACH, providing long-term acute care services to patients recovering from serious illnesses or injuries. Often our patients require additional critical care services for medically complex conditions such as trauma, infectious diseases, wound healing, cardiovascular disease, stroke, amputation and ventilator weaning. As a smaller, specialized hospital, we offer an opportunity to work in a fast-paced and friendly work environment where you really get to know your patients and their families. The LPN is responsible for clinical functions on the unit, including all aspects of patient care incorporating the nursing process in accordance with the applicable Nurse Practice Act. The staff LPN/LVN shall ensure that the unit to which assigned shall function in a smooth, organized, and efficient manner as directed by the Registered Nurse. The provision of care includes direct care along with the delegation and supervision of all nursing care. Specific components of the licensed practical/vocational nurse role include demonstrating clinical competence, managing patient care, improving quality of care, establishing professional relationships and utilizing professional skills, fulfilling responsibilities of the role of the hospital, and developing clinical expertise per specialty. Qualifications: * Current, valid, and active license to practice as a Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse in the state of employment required. * Current BLS certification required. * IV Certification required. Additional Qualifications/Skills: * One (1) year of clinical experience in a health care setting preferred. * Three (3) years medical/surgical experience preferred. * One (1) year of area specific experience preferred. * Ability to project a professional image. * Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements. * Strong organizational, prioritizing and analytical skills. * Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant. * Working knowledge of computer and software applications used in job functions. * Freedom from illegal use of and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.
