Responsibilities Position Purpose: The LPN and or RN will be responsible for making pre-op/post- op phone calls to patients to review health history, including medications, and review specific instructions for what patients need to do prior to surgery.

The Nurse will also make post-op calls to follow up on the patients' progress after surgery.

Skills and Abilities: Ability to correlate clinical data with patient's medical and nursing care.

Ability to set priorities and work independently.

Ability to handle multiple tasks. Ability to interact in a positive manner and communicate well with patients, families, co-workers, and supervisor.

Ability to provide direction to others that is clear, concise and promotes efficiency throughout the clinical areas of the facility.

Ability to communicate well with patients, families, Teammates, physicians, other members of the healthcare team, etc. Recognizes legal and policy limits of individual practice.

Reviews health history, medications, and specific instructions needed to do prior to surgery.

Clinical Quality: Assesses, plans, evaluates, and ensures the implementation of the patient's care to achieve identified outcomes and delivers safe patient care according to facility policy and procedure.

Assumes an active role in the provision of quality nursing care for patients receiving care.

Demonstrates continued competence in assessing, treating, and caring for individuals based upon age specific needs utilizing a developmental perspective. Demonstrates appropriate knowledge and competence of designated skills identified for position in telephonic nurse duties. Review of policy related to preop/ post op telephone calls Ability to verbalize HIPPA requirements in relation to obtaining information from patient/care giver Ability to follow the established criteria for obtaining and giving information to the patient/care giver as indicated on the preoperative telephone call sheet Performs accurate documentation of information for the medical record Reports all deviations reported by patients to RN or physicians Qualifications Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.

At least one year of medical/surgical nursing experience preferred.

Current state licensure to practice. Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS)/Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 90 days of employment or documentation of current BLS/BCLS certification.

USD $27.07/Hr. USD $48.22/Hr.

Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.

At least one year of medical/surgical nursing experience preferred.
