Work Hours:

Part Time / Days

You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Assesses patient and family needs to provide necessary data to health care team to ensure quality total care.

  • Completes gathering of data to analyze and make assessment of nursing needs to formulate the initial nursing care plan including discharge plan.

  • Identifies and reports abnormalities or instabilities of the patient's condition to anesthesia or surgeon, after admission assessment.

  • Observes and assesses each assigned patient during their stay in outpatient surgery department.

  • Documents all medications and drug allergies in i-Connect.

  • Stamps and compiles patient charts according to unit policy.

  • Records appropriate information on hand-off report and in i-Connect per department policy.

  • Identifies and records patient/family needs providing pre-op and post-op teaching.

  • Demonstrates the skill and judgment necessary to implement physician's orders, procedures and nursing intervention.

  • Implements nursing interventions and physician's orders accurately and promptly.

  • Accurately prepares and administers medications and IV fluids according to orders and hospital policy.

  • Ensures that each patient is prepared and ready prior to scheduled operating time.

Qualifications

What You Will Need:

  • Currently licensed to practice as an RN in the state of Texas or qualifying compact state.

  • One year full time previous experience as RN on surgical floor or recovery room, preferably surgical unit.

Job Summary:

The Outpatient Surgery RN practices as a professional nurse within the limits of the Texas Nurse Practice Act assuming responsibility and accountability for the outpatient surgery patients for a designated time frame utilizing skills, knowledge and the nursing process to ensure the quality of care provided and in harmony with the philosophy, goals and policies of the Nursing Department and hospital administration.

Work Hours: Full Time / Days You Will Be Responsible For: * Provides for safe care in the Operating Room, by continuous patient assessment. * Verifies accuracy of each chart before surgery for complete consent, lab work, history and physical, identify patient and type of surgery, and checks allergies of patient. * Position patient for surgery using proper alignment and padding, assist anesthesia, maintain patient's privacy and ensure patient is clean, dry and warm before transporting in a safe manner to PACU, OPS or nursing unit. * Monitor patients having local anesthesia according to policy and procedure. * Recognizes potential emergency/life threatening situations and initiates appropriate action. * Administers medication in accordance with hospital policy. * Demonstrates competence and knowledge of aseptic techniques and surgical procedures to ensure a safe environment free from infection. * Complies with policy and procedures regarding aseptic technique. * Demonstrates knowledge in the use of instruments and equipment necessary for a procedure. * Performs proper sponge, needle and instrument counts per OR policy; documents appropriately. * Uses correct technique when doing preps. Qualifications What You Will Need: * Currently licensed to practice as an RN in the state of Texas or in a qualifying compact state. * Previous OR experience is preferred. Job Summary: The OR Staff RN practices as a professional nurse within the limits of the Texas Nurse Practice Act. Circulates and scrubs on all types of surgery cases, utilizing skills, knowledge and nursing process to ensure the quality of care provided and in harmony with the philosophy, goals and policies of the Nursing Department and hospital administration. May function as the scrub nurse as experience allows. Must be able to communicate with doctors, patients, staff, other nurses and medical personnel. Must be able to document assessments and evaluation of patients and care given. Must be able to function independently, efficiently and as a member of the hospital team.
