The Patient Safety Coordinator will be responsible for collating data and collaborating within their assigned division to assure timely review of data and the development of continuous quality improvement.

Leads, facilitates and executes projects to improve patient safety and quality. 5.
Under Nursing Leadership direction, identifies patient safety and quality priorities and facilitates multidisciplinary teams using performance improvement methodologies to achieve agreed upon performance goals. ( Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA), Six Sigma, CAP, LEAN) 6. Works in collaboration with Nursing Education to facilitate training for certain projects. 7. Under the direction of the Director, Medical Directors, Nursing Professional Governance Councils and Patient Safety Committee perform periodic gap analyses and action plan development to ensure conformance with national patient safety and clinical quality initiatives including:
Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals, NQF Safe Practices, and Leapfrog Group Quality 8. Designs and utilizes dashboards and reports to monitor key quality, safety, financial and satisfaction metrics. Assists unit leadership with data for patient safety and quality boards. 9.
Participates in departmental task forces and rapid cycle improvement processes. Using the Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) methodology 10. Provides mentoring and training to staff engaged in unit -based or cross-departmental improvement efforts. 11.
Under the direction of the Director, Medical Directors and Nursing Professional Governance Councils identify and manage resources required to successfully execute projects. 12. Proposes process and technology improvements to successful completion in both departmental based and cross-functional team settings. 13. Serves on committees to facilitate projects that encourage innovation and best practice aligned with Patient Safety and Quality. 14.
Works closely with entire health care team on innovative projects to improve quality, efficiency, safety and reliability supported by Evidence Based Practice 15. Serves as a resource by providing expert knowledge of regulatory standards and accreditation processes. 16. Provides education in the approach and methods of quality assessment and improvement throughout the department to create a culture of safety and quality. 17.
Special assignments as requested by Sr. Leadership (Support Magnet journey, unit specific safety metrics) 18. Responsible for providing the framework, coordination and direction for systematic monitoring and evaluating the quality of nursing and patient care against national and internal benchmarks. 19.
Develops sustainability measures and audit tools for projects. Qualifications Primarily Day shift, but some rotation to off shifts/weekends needed. Responsible for multiple locations.
EDUCATION BSN required. Masters degree in healthcare or equivalent preferred.
EXPERIENCE Three (3) to Five (5) years of experience of clinical nursing in a surgical services area is required.
Two (2) to three (3) years clinical experience with informal or formal leadership role. Experience with quality and safety project work. Experience entering clinical information into computerized databases is preferred.
Experience with database queries is preferred. Quality improvement and patient safety knowledge preferred. A working knowledge of regulatory and operational guidelines that govern the relevant clinical area.
Clinical experience in specialty modality depending on position location and department needs. LICENSURE CT RN license required. SPECIAL SKILLS Project management skills, including the ability to identify stakeholders, plan steps, coordinate and allocate resources to accomplish goals and objectives in a timely manner Leadership skills, including comfort with decision-making responsibilities; coaching, teaching, and counseling skills; and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others and to forge alliances and garner support.
