Job Summary and Qualifications

As a PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) Registered Nurse (RN), you will work to provide care for patients that have been administered anesthesia - these patients are typically transferred from OR, Endo, Interventional Radiology &/or TEE. PACU patients are in this Unit for observation and recovery until either being discharged or admitted to another Unit within the hospital - some admitted patients are at a critical care level. You will work with a team of physicians and multiple other healthcare professionals.

Tasks and responsibilities, you will:

  • Assess, plan and evaluate patient care needs.

  • Prioritize patient care based on acuity level and available resources.

  • Assist physician during examination, treatment and procedures.

  • Administer prescribed medications, change dressings, clean wounds and monitor vital signs.

  • Monitor, record and communicate patient condition, as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation system.

  • Provide age and culturally appropriate care.

Position Qualifications:

FL RN Licensure, or Recognized Compact Licensure (subject to Florida State Licensing Requirements, including/not limited to ongoing eligibility and duration provisions)

2 year/Associates Degree

Current certifications: BLS, ACLS & PALS (AHA)

1 - 3 years in PACU or Critical Care

Customer service abilities including effective listening skills

Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment

HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital is a 380-bed acute-care hospital. Offering a full range of services. We are home to the most experienced Heart Institute on the Treasure Coast. Lawnwood Hospital provides interventional and therapeutic care, including open-heart surgery. Other hospital services include labor/delivery, pediatrics, orthopedics, oncology, nuclear medicine, adult and pediatric emergency services, and diagnostic services. We also offer inpatient, and outpatient surgical services.

Lawnwood Hospital is a designated Certified Primary Stroke Center. The Physical Rehabilitation Center is CARF accredited. We are a Level II Trauma Center. We are verified by the American College of Surgeons. We offer a freestanding ER in Vero Beach. We provide emergency treatment for adults and children.
