What You Will Do

As an Associate with Columbia St. Mary's-WI, you will have the opportunity to deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.


  • Performs scrub functions including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during procedure.

  • Performs circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient before, during and after procedure.

  • Directly assists operating physician with surgical tasks including hemostasis, suturing and wound exposure as well as patient positioning.

  • Prepares operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use.

What You Will Need


  • Required Credential(s):

  • Advanced Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.

  • BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 2 Months (60 days) of hire date or job transfer date.

  • One or more of the following:

  • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Licensure from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing OR current home state license if considered multi-state/Compact State. Licensure is dependent on state associate works in.

  • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Minnesota Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Licensure is dependent on state associate works in.


  • Diploma

  • Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required.

  • None required.

The Simulation Staff-RN assists the Simulation Laboratory Coordinator and staff in managing the lab for use by faculty/staff, students, potential students, and community partners. This person also functions as a simulation operations specialist. The position requires some evening and weekend hours. This is a part-time (19.5 hours per week), non-exempt, position that reports to the Simulation Laboratory Coordinator. Functional Qualifications and Capabilities * Supports the Concordia University and School of Nursing mission and vision * Supports the educational goals set for the Simulation Lab * Demonstrates effective communication skills with students and other team members * Promotes positive inter-professional team dynamics * Ability to work independently and as a team member. * Functional knowledge of common computer operating systems (Windows & Mac) * Ability to use the various modalities of simulation training (manikins, standardized patients, and virtual environments) Simulation Operations Specific Responsibilities * Knowledge of the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL) Standards * Creates realistic patient scenarios in the simulation environment through the staging of manikins, the physical environment and props, under the direction of the faculty and/or the Simulation Coordinator * Prepares, programs and operates simulators and other equipment/props * Prepares, programs and operates A/V equipment * Assists with strategic planning for the simulation lab's technical infrastructure and integration of simulation into the curriculum * Mentors others as guided by the Simulation Coordinator * Assists with equipment and inventory management * Updates resume annually * Other duties as assigned Education and/or Training Wisconsin RN license required upon hire. Baccalaureate degree in nursing required. Minimum of two years of recent work experience providing direct patient care in a healthcare setting. Compensation and Benefits This is a part-time position. Starting range is dependent upon on individual qualifications and experience. Tuition benefits are available for employees and their qualified dependents.
