RN- Oncology/ Infusion PRN

Job Description

Laredo Medical Center's (LMC) Oncology is now hiring a PRN Infusion RN (Registered Nurse) to work within the Oncology department at LMC's 326 bed acute care hospital. The department is a secure unit in the main campus of Laredo Medical Center.

The Hospital is located in sunny Laredo, Texas, just 150 miles south of historic San Antonio. This is a busy department that sometimes requires flexibility in scheduling. Employees report directly to the Director of the Cancer Center.

Position's Purpose and Essential Functions

Evaluates assigned patients and plans, implements and documents nursing care. Assists physicians during examinations and procedures.

Performs various patient tests and administers medications within the scope of practice of the registered nurse. Promotes patients' independence by establishing patient care goals and teaching patients and families to understand conditions, medications, and self-care skills. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Performs a variety of tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department.

Applicants Job Requirements Include

• Required: Associate's degree and is certified as a registered nurse by the state of Texas State Board of Registered Nurse Examiners.

• Preferred: Bachelors degree in Nursing.

• Required: CPR within 30 days of hire.

• Required: Chemo certified (ONS) required within 6 months of hire.

• Preferred: Skills in medical-surgical unit for infusions, injections, port-a-cath access.

• Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
