GENERAL SUMMARY Integrate collaborative care planning for individual patients and implement nursing standards in the processes of care. FUNCTIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES General Clinical Practice: Utilizes the nursing process in caring for all patients, to include: assessing symptoms, planning interventions, implementing treatment plans, evaluating responses to interventions, and revising plan based on overall effectiveness. Demonstrates the skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to the population served. Adheres to the established practice standards and procedures at New London Hospital, in the administration of all medications and in-patient care activities. Documents care provided using hospital standards. Provides education to patients and families based on assessment of learning needs. Participates in interdisciplinary discharge planning. Creates and monitors patient environment is safe and free from hazards. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. Takes charge assignment, overseeing other staff RNs, LPNs, LNAs, and Unit Secretaries, as assigned. Assists in the orientation of new employees to the Medical/Surgical Unit. POSITION REQUIREMENTS# Knowledge / Skills / Abilities # 0-1 year of relevant clinical practice Experience # Education # Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current state license.
