Sentara is currently hiring a Registered Nurse for Cornell 2- our MedSurg Unit!

This is a part-time weekend only night shift position in Charlottesville, VA.

Cornell 2: Are you looking for a challenging unit to fine tune your nursing skills and assessments to prepare you for a specialty floor? Cornell 2 offers experienced staff who are willing to help you grow and to learn vital time management skills. The unit currently has a ratio of 1:5/ 1:6 depending on staffing throughout the hospital. This is a Medical/Surgical unit Neuro Oncology floor that specializes in urology, vascular and chest tubes care. This means that any day you will experience anything from CHF, COPD, Oncology patient with neutropenia or new diagnosis, Amputations, Tracheostomies, Chest Tube care, Three-way foley irrigation, end of life and so much more. This unit challenges you to become a well-trained nurse and to work alongside experienced staff that want to see you learn and grow. The unit has a primarily 12- hour shift schedule with weekend rotation with Patient Care Technicians covering 8-12 patients, Unit Coordinators with years of experience, and a strong educator with over 20 years of experience. With a strong orientation program where the manager and educator meet with you every two weeks to make sure you are getting the best learning opportunity. Requirements:

  • Degree or Diploma from an accredited Registered Nursing Program

  • BSN or MSN preferred.

  • Registered Nurse License

  • Students in the process of completing an accredited nursing program.

  • Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License

  • BLS Required within 90 days of hire.

Job Summary

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
