RN needed for NURSING ASSISTANT INSTRUCTOR / PROGRAM COORDINATOR

Job Summary

RN NA Instructors work under the direct supervision of the Campus Director and with dotted line supervision from the Program Coordinator. The Program Coordinator reports to the Campus Director with support from the Director of Education.

As an NA Instructor, you will teach students the Nursing Assistant curriculum as assigned which may include lecture, laboratory and clinical skills training. Your RN experience in a long-term care facility will prep you to understand and review lesson plans and prepare for class instruction, grade and electronically record assignments, actively promote student retention, support Clinicals as applicable, and perform related work as required.

This is a part-time, adjunct teaching position. When there are classes schedule, you will work 40 hours per week, but when there are gaps, there will only be 4-5 hours per week.

We anticipate an average of 20 hours per week.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Program Coordinator oversees the program at each assigned location.

  • Provides support and supervision for program faculty in understanding program delivery requirements and effectively undertaking instruction

  • Trains new Instructors in the proper techniques for hands-on proficiencies in the classroom and mentors faculty members

  • Conducts classroom observations to review delivery of technical course content as necessary

  • Ensures classrooms are properly equipped and orders supplies

  • Attends program Advisory Board meeting

Primary and Alternate/Primary Instructor

  • Accountable for the classroom, laboratory and clinical practicum.

  • Is onsite and available during 100% of the clinical teaching time.

  • Is onsite and available at least 50% of the classroom and laboratory time.

  • Delivers course work using contemporary teaching strategies and practices

  • Accurately records students' daily attendance

  • Follows and enforces Student Guidelines

  • Participates in the planning and evaluation of each segment of the curriculum.

  • Monitors each new instructor in lecture, laboratory or clinical whenever that person is teaching something new for the first time.

  • Maintains classroom in good physical order, helps to manage program supplies and keep equipment in good repair

  • Enters classroom at designated time with all necessary materials. Begins and ends class at scheduled times and follows scheduled student break times

  • May delegate classroom, laboratory and or clinical teaching responsibilities to a Delegated Instructor if directed to do so by the Campus Director and Program Coordinator.

Delegated Instructor

  • Delivers course work using contemporary teaching strategies and practices under the direction of the Primary Instructor

  • Accurately records students' daily attendance

  • Follows and enforces Student Guidelines

  • Maintains classroom in good physical order, helps to manage program supplies and keep equipment in good repair as directed

  • Enters classroom at designated time with all necessary materials. Begins and ends class at scheduled times and follows scheduled student break times

All Instructors, Outside of Class Time:

  • Complete a minimum of one pre-approved professional development workshop, seminar or course related to the teaching discipline of the Instructor every fiscal year

  • Attend two Ross Education LLC in-services every fiscal year

  • Attend formal and informal faculty/staff meetings

  • BLS instructor certification may be required

Performs related work as required

Requirements

Instructors must qualify as stated below. Any exception will be reviewed on an individual basis and must be approved by the Director of Education.

  • Program Coordinator must be licensed Registered Nurse(RN) in the State of Michigan with one year long-term care facility work experience, and 3 or more years total work experience

  • Must be an RN with Train-The-Trainer certification for NA training, or have ability to obtain

  • Must have sufficient ability to move around the building and classroom to satisfy student needs and/or facilitate student participation

  • Must have sufficient visual and auditory ability to operate computer equipment, use telephone, read materials, use white board and use classroom equipment

  • Ability to communicate effectively in classroom and individual settings

  • Knowledge of materials (subjects) that will be taught to students and ability to use and communicate the curriculum

  • Ability to adapt quickly in fast-paced work environment

  • Ability to use current technology to maintain student records, e.g., Microsoft Office, CampusVue

  • Ability to achieve or maintain RN credential and/or licensure within expected time frames

  • Demonstrates professionalism in manner, dress and conduct as a representative of Ross and a student mentor

  • Ability to remain objective and treat all students equally

  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality

  • Adhere to Ross Code of Conduct and Professional Ethics

Prior teaching or formal tutoring experience using a developed curriculum, preferred
