POSITION SUMMARY

The Multi Trauma Unit registered nurse (RN):

  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge, skills and understands the unique aspects of the population served in the care of his/her patients

  • Delivers care based on the physical, psychosocial, cultural, safety and learning needs of the individual patient

  • May rotate to areas other than his/her assigned service area/s, and will perform only those duties for which he/she has demonstrated competency

  • Performs delegated duties consistent with the scope of practice and functions within the philosophy and overall plan of care delivery at SMC.

  • Demonstrates good organizational skills.

  • Provides safe and appropriate patient care within the Values & Standards of Nursing Practice at SMC.

  • Displays appropriate judgment and problem solving skills.

  • Communicates positively and professionally with all internal and external customers.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current Colorado Registered Nurse License (may work under valid and current compact RN license for the first 180 days of employment)

  • Current BLS certification required (American Heart Association)

  • Graduate of a certified School of Nursing

Position Details: FTE Status: PRN Shift: Flex (FTE x 80 = hours per pay period) Responsibilities: Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including but not limited to, monitoring vital signs, taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output. Assists patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living, including but not limited to, bathing, grooming and eating. Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff. Assists with keeping unit(s) and patient rooms stocked, clean, and orderly. Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action. Requirements: * Credentials: Essential: * CO Certified Nurse Asst * Basic Life Support * Other information: Minimum Required Education: High School diploma or GED. Required Licensure/Certification: Certified as a Nursing Assistant (CNA). Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider. Minimum Experience: None required. * IF APPLICABLE: BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire. All life support certification cards must be issued by either the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer. (American Red Cross for the Professional Rescuer is only good upon hire and all renewals will need to be through an American Heart Association sanctioned course.)
