RN instructor Mental Health

Unitek College is hiring for a full-time Mental Health instructor for its RN Program in Fremont.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Instruct students and develop coursework for the assigned classes.

  • Make continuous efforts to improve quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing different and innovative methodologies / techniques in teaching.

  • Assist with reviewing and revising syllabi and instructional guidelines.

  • Regularly evaluate students to measure their progress in achieving curriculum and course objectives and inform them in a timely manner of their progress.

  • Assist with strategic planning and assessment of instructional initiatives to ensure quality of program.

  • Maintain student records of attendance, grades, and skills check-off forms and assist with program data collection.

  • Teach lectures and clinical rotations (clinical rotations can be days, and/or evenings, on week days and/or weekends).

  • Provide access to students for ongoing communication through scheduling of office hours, electronic communication and other appropriate methods.

  • Participate in professional development; maintain CE hours to ensure renewed licensure, and stay current with college updates.

  • Commitment to teaching and working with a multicultural and multigenerational student body.

  • Act as liaison between clinical facilities, community partners and the college

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse with current licensure in California (or ability to get a California license)

  • MSN Degree with at least 4 years of direct patient care experience, one of which is within the last five years

  • Able to meet the faculty requirements set by California's Board of Registered Nursing

  • Current immunizations and Basic Life Support Certification

  • Experience which demonstrates: Current knowledge of nursing practice; ability to mentor students in classroom, lab and clinical settings.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

VIEW JOBS 4/21/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-07-20T00:00 Description: In a Consultant-Liaison role, evaluates and diagnosis' Health Plan members seen in primary care who have mental disorders or behavioral conditions that affect or are a consequence of their medical condition. Essential Responsibilities: Utilizes principles of Health Psychology to develop implement, coordinate and evaluate treatment plans for referred members that may include crisis intervention, brief psychotherapy, psychoeducation groups and brief case management. Prepares concise intake evaluations and treatment plans, and maintains ongoing confidential progress records in accord with state and NCQA regulations. Provides education and support to members and their families to encourage compliance with medical and behavioral regimes. Co-manages medical conditions through the use of nonpharmacologic and behavioral interventions in order to leverage physician time and develop appropriate patterns of utilization. Collaborates with physicians in screening and evaluating patients for psychotropic medications, within the scope of practice. Provides consultation and training to other members of the APC team in the areas of mental health, behavioral medicine and health psychology. Provides consultation on program development, and conducts program evaluation and outcome assessment, as needed. Serves as liaison and refers to the Psychiatry Department, Chemical Dependency Services, Behavioral Health Education, specialty behavioral medicine services and other Medical Teams as appropriate. Basic Qualifications: Experience N/A Education Master's degree in social work, social welfare from a clinical track, clinical or counseling psychology or related field required from an accredited college or university. License, Certification, Registration Valid Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Marriage Family Therapist in the State of California or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with the State of California approval by the Board of Behavioral Science. Must have a Nat'l Provider Identifier (NPI), or obtain an NPI, prior to employment start date. Additional Requirements: Knowledge of learning theory and behavioral medicine. Knowledge of state regulations and licensing standards related to client treatment, patient rights, and client/patient confidentiality. Demonstrated ability to work effectively on a team, and in a primary care environment. Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a multidisciplinary setting. Additional Preferred Qualifications: Experience in child and family health clinic setting, collaborating with pediatricians, assessment of ADHD, brief behavioral interventions for common child-rearing problems, family conflict, parenting skills, as well as childhood depression and anxiety.
