Responsibilities

WellStar has an immediate opportunity for a Registered Nurse Infection Prevention Coordinator with the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.

The RN Infection Prevention (IP) Coordinator is a registered professional nurse who functions under the direction of the Infection Prevention Manager. Responsibilities include hospital surveillance activities, public reporting, education of patients and team members. The RN Infection Prevention Coordinator provides mentoring of the Infection Preventionist.

Qualifications

Required Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Required Minimum Licensure:

  • Current licensure as a registered professional nurse in the State of Georgia

  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)

Required Minimum Experience:

  • One year experience in infection prevention practice is required.

  • Coordination of an Infection Prevention program is preferred.

Required Minimum Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication.

  • Teamwork and relationship building.

Summary: Under general to limited supervision, conducts research and assists in the planning, development, modification and implementation of agency and/or division policy and strategic plans. Implements and evaluates programs and initiatives in an assigned specialty area, particularly related to physical activity, nutrition, worksite wellness, school wellness, and Georgia SHAPE across the district. Assists in preparing reports and presentations, and works with clients, partners, outside vendors and management to develop or implement programs, initiatives and policies, systems and environmental changes in a manner that addresses agency and community strategies. Serves as organization resource and expert in assigned areas- physical activity, nutrition and worksite wellness and related areas of chronic disease prevention. This position works to promote and protect the health and safety of the residents of Cobb and Douglas counties. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university OR completion of 90 quarter hours (60 semester hours) at an accredited college or university AND two years of related experience OR one year of experience required at the lower level Planner 1 (GSP050) or position equivalent. Note: an equivalent combination of education and job specific experience that provided the knowledge, experience and competencies required to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted on a year-over-year basis. Preferred Qualifications/Skills: Master's degree in public health education or a directly related field (e.g. exercise science, nutrition, dietic) OR Bachelor's degree in public health education or a directly related field AND one year of experience in public health education or related field. Proficiency with Microsoft office Suite and Adobe.
