Under the direction of the ICUClinical Coordinator the ICU RN performs duties of considerable difficulty,applying professional nursing theory and principles, and utilizes the nursingprocess to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care given to patients. Works collaboratively with theinterdisciplinary healthcare team in providing patient care. Demonstrates clinical, organizational andcommunication skills in dealing with patients, families and other healthcareworkers. This position requires on-call with a 30 minute response time.
Provides specialized nursing care topatients in Critical Care.
Observes, collects and timelyrecords data related to patient's biophysical, psychosocial, environmental andself-care ability Identifies and documents educational and discharge planningneeds within the patient's assessed learning abilities.
Analyzes assessment data toformulate a nursing diagnosis and to provide the basis for planning timely andeffective nursing interviews.
Implements an age appropriate planof care in conjunction with the physician, patient, patient's family,significant other and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Documents and utilizes patient datato measure progress toward attainment of patient outcomes and patient goals.
Effectively manages and utilizessophisticated equipment associated with critical care.
Involves patient and significantother in education and decision making process related to patient's care.
Administers medication according tohospital policies/procedures to ensure patient safety.
Provides for and follows precautionsto ensure patient safety related to fall prevention.
Ensures that equipment is available,in proper place and maintained in working condition.
Utilizes safety equipment inaccordance with hospital policies to ensure for own and co-worker safety needs.
Provides direction to other teammembers of the nursing team to ensure that patient care needs are met in a safeand knowledgeable manner, and reflects efficient and effective utilization ofresources (multidisciplinary).
State of Oregon required.
Must have current BLS at hire.
ACLS required within three (3)months of hire, preferred upon hire.
TNCC and PALS certification arepreferred.
CCRN required within three (3) yearsof hire date.
A minimum of 1200 hours within thelast 24 months as a Registered Nurse in acute care required.
Critical Care (ICU, PCU) experiencepreferred.
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Must complete 10 Critical Care CE Direct modulesyearly.
