About the Unit/Department/Team

This Hospital Nursing Department supports the mission, vision and values of Lakewood Health System. We are a 25 bed Critical Access hospital serving Medical, Surgical, and Swing Bed Patients and Families. Our team consists of Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Health Unit Coordinators and Nursing Assistants. The Hospital team provides a plan of care based on Provider instruction and Nursing Care Planning to meet patient goals providing optimal care for their health and safety to promote quality of life.

Duties & Responsibilities OR Position Summary

The Obstetric RN provides direct care to patients during their antenatal, labor and delivery, and postpartum period. Their duties include caring for outpatient obstetric patients, laboring patients and their families, admissions to the department, assessing and monitoring throughout labor, administering medications, coordinating care with providers and ancillary departments including lactation, documenting care and treatments of both mom and babies while working alongside nursing staff, OB technicians and other staff.

The Med/Surg RN provides direct care to patients dealing with illnesses, injuries or surgeries. Their duties include admitting, assessing and monitoring patients, administering medications, coordinating care with the provider, documenting cares and treatments along with other nursing cares as indicated.

Position Type

This is a part-time or full-time position working every third weekend with rotating shifts and holidays.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Must maintain an active Minnesota RN License
  • CPR required for hire
  • ALS certification required but can train upon hire
  • NRP certification required but can train upon hire

Ideal Candidate

  • Previous Obstetrics experience required

  • Previous Med/Surg experience preferred

  • Able to prioritize

  • Ability to problem solve

  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families and co-workers
