Job Responsibilities/Duties: Responsible for coordination of care to meet identified needs of the patient/family.
Supervises the management of patient care utilizing critical thinking and nursing process, discharge planning, resource identification, linking and scheduling patients with required services, monitoring care delivery, advocating for the patient, care planning and evaluating outcomes.
Coordinates patient care across the health care continuum, and assists other team members with meeting individual patient needs.
This position may require flexibility of hours.
Qualifications: Experience/Training: Minimum two years Med/Surg experience with telemetry required.
Must challenge and successfully pass the Basic Dysrhythmia course curriculum within 21 days of hire.
Basic computer skills/experience with computerized documentation systems required.
Education: Bachelors degree in Nursing, Required.
Diploma or transcripts on highest degree earned required.
Licenses/Certifications: Current active unrestricted RN license issued by State of California.
Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS Provider required.
MAB (Management of Assaultive Behavior) required within 30 days of hire or transfer.
Must be renewed annually.
PCCN or related certification, preferred.
Skills: Must pass or challenge the Basic Dysrhythmia course curriculum.
Must be willing and able to work in a face paced, frequently changing environment.
Must be willing and able to multi-task effectively to accomplish work assignments.
Must pass or challenge the Basic Dysrhythmia course curriculum.
M ust successfully complete a Code Blue Drill every 12months.
Must complete initial and/or annual standardized procedures and competencies related to:
Management of Cardiac Emergencies.
Care of the patient with Pacemakers/ICD.
Application/usage and alternatives to restraints; appropriate documentation.
Pressure Ulcer prevention and treatment.
Hypoglycemia management.
Universal Protocol.
POCT for Bedside Blood Glucose monitoring.
Regitine/Vitrase Administration.
IV Admixture.
Central line PICC line management.
Wound VAC.
Lift equipment.

Under the direct supervision of the Pre-Op/PACU manager, the PACU nurse is responsible for implementing all physician orders, providing for the continuity and quality of nursing care for all patients, with continual evaluation of the patients'' condition, providing patient safety, comfort, and privacy at all time. At times, assist the physicians in the procedure rooms with various tasks, conscious sedation and utilizing sterile technique as deemed appropriate. Responsible for providing total comprehensive patient care to patients emerging from general anesthesia and/or sedation. Responsible for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient and family in preparation for discharge. Required Skills EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE * Graduate of an accredited school of nursing * Current Texas Nursing License * Current BLS, ACLS and PALS * Minimum of 2 years experience in PACU or ICU * SKILLS REQUIRED: * Interdependent Partnering * Good communication and human relations skills. * Mastering Complexity * Ability to organize and follow through on own initiative. * Ability to master new skills. * Technical/Functional * Thorough knowledge of all phases of perioperative process including knowledge of surgical procedures and anesthesia implications. * Current nursing assessment and patient care skills. * Telemetry experience necessary * Education * Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. * Current license to practice nursing in the State of Ohio. * CPR certified. ACLS certification is required within 6 months of employment if not currently certified. * Experience * Critical Care or PACU experience preferred. * Work environment * Outpatient Surgery * Physical demands (i.e. works on a computer, use of telephone, lifts up to 50 lbs.) * Works on computer, uses telephone. * Intermittent physical mobility/activity including walking, standing, sitting. Light lifting, pulling and pushing of carts, equipment, ect. Must be able to bend body downward at the waist, be able to kneel.
