The medical service line float pool RN is a highly skilled, highly motivated nurse looking to expand their current nursing practice. RN must have a strong nursing foundation.

The RN will orient to and work on a variety of medical floors throughout Huntsville Hospital Main. This position is fast-paced and requires a flexible and positive attitude. The position will allow for expanding current nursing knowledge and skills and provide numerous opportunities for growth and further development. Float pool nurses are expected to be a positive resource for patients, families and other staff members.

The RN identifies patient needs and priorities for care though assessment. The RN plans and delegates care based on patient needs.

The RN evaluates the patient's response to care and the attainment of or progress toward expected outcomes. The RN is accountable for outcomes of patient care delivered during the assigned shift.


Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required: Education: Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing with current Alabama licensure.

Experience: Experience preferred; new graduates accepted. Additional Skill/Abilities: BLS required before the conclusion of the orientation period. ACLS within one year of hire.

Also, the NP assumes accountability for indirect care responsibilities, which support patient care including staff and student education, clinical research, program development, and quality improvement. Qualifications Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required: Education: Completion of Nurse Practitioner Masters of Science in Nursing from an accredited college or university. Successful completion of a National Certification Exam for NP, current registration through the Alabama board of Nursing and Board of Medical Examiners, and approval of the Huntsville Hospital credentialing board. Experience:Minimum 3 years full time ER or Critical Care RN and/or CRNP experience recommended. Additional Skills/Abilities:Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly. Must have knowledge of all equipment and materials required for procedures described in the Emergency Care Center Policy/Procedure Manual and Nursing Service Procedure Manual. BLS for Healthcare Providers must be obtained in orientation period. ACLS must be obtained within the first 6 months of employment and maintained current. TNCC must be obtained within the first 2 years of employment and maintained current. PALS is highly recommended.
