POSITION SUMMARY: Provides safe, competent nursing care for patients in accordance with facility policies, standards, and philosophy.

Provides professional leadership and support to the healthcare team.

The concepts of Patient Centered Care will provide the foundation for all nursing care. Demonstrates Service Excellence standards at all times.

Develops, implements, and evaluates an age-appropriate plan of care utilizing the nursing process, clinical skills, and patient education. Maintains professional behavior when dealing with issues or conflicts, utilizing appropriate resources, as needed. Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, families, visitors, and employees.

The RN will assess risks to patient safety and implement the appropriate precautions. The RN will comply with appropriate and approved standards, as outlined by the organization and accrediting agencies. The RN will comply with safety and injury prevention standards to minimize risk to self, co-workers, patients, and visitors. The concepts of the patient centered care delivery model will provide the foundation for all nursing care.

The Registered Nurse functions under the supervision of the Charge Nurse. The RN assures provision of family centered care to an assigned patient population in a professional manner, utilizing the nursing process and the principles of continuous quality improvement in collaboration with other health team members. The Registered Nurse supports an organizational culture for Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence standards to all customer groups.

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

  • Current license or permit to practice nursing in the State of Texas

  • Possess current BLS certification upon hire and maintain certification throughout employment

  • ACLS within 12 months of hire and maintain certification throughout employment

  • PALS within 12 months of hire and maintain certification throughout employment

  • One year of experience as a RN in a Hospital setting preferred

Physical and Sensory Requirements:

  • Ability to read and write in English

  • Ability to communicate with patients, families, staff, physicians, support agencies, vendors, and others.

  • Ability to remain calm during stressful situations

  • Ability to respond to pages

  • Ability to evaluate and interpret information and make independent decisions.

  • Ability to repeatedly twist, squat and stoop.

  • Bending, lifting (minimum of 25 pounds), grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing, and pulling.

  • Exposure to infectious organisms, agents, and toxic chemicals

  • On call shift coverage as required by department.

Emergency Department:

a. ACLS within 3 months of hire and maintain certification throughout employment

b. PALS within 3 months of hire and maintain certifications throughout employment. c.

TNCC within 6 months of hire and maintain certification throughout employment. d. ENPC encouraged

e. Handle with Care within 3 months of hire and maintain certification throughout employment.

f. Minimum of 4 6 month's experience as an employed nursing student in the specific unit, nursing

students must have completed a leadership semester in the ED, or one year as an RN in a hospital

setting.
