Job Summary:

A RN Exercise Specialist will participate in out-patient phases of the Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program.

Education:

Required:

Graduate of an accredited two year Nursing Program (ADN).

Preferred:

Graduate of an Accredited four year Nursing Program (BSN)

Experience:

Required:

One year medical/surgical acute care experience

Preferred:

Required:

Current, unrestricted North Carolina RN licensure, or Multi-State Nursing Compact Licensure

BLS completed prior to going to the unit/department and maintained going forward.

The Nurse Licensure Compact will not change how to obtain or renew a North Carolina license. However, the North Carolina nursing license will be a single state license for North Carolina Residents or non-compact state residents. North Carolina licensure or multistate licensure from a compact state must be obtained within three months of hire for non-North Carolina residents.

Department Position Summary:

The RN Exercise Specialist will participate in out-patient phases of the Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program. Responsibilities include coordination and supervision of exercise sessions in Phases II, III, and IV.

Patient education responsibilities will include provision of appropriate education for patients in all phases of the program. The age of the patient is primary adult, although geriatric patients may be served. Orientation, continuing education, knowledge and skills will be developed as appropriate for these categories. Must be self-motivated and works efficiently with only occasional limited supervision.
