Job Summary

Are you an experienced RN looking to join our team of Healthcare Heroes? Geisinger is hiring a Director of Ambulatory Surgery for our new Pittston Surgery Center.

Job Duties

Serves as primary management for the Outpatient Surgery Center. Responsible for operations including coordination of nursing, business office, supply chain, information systems, quality management, risk management, and safety for the site. Responsible for the accreditation, overall financial performance, and marketing activity of the facility. Responsible for the overall efficiency and service levels in the Ambulatory Surgery Center.

  • Establishes and attains performance measures including patient satisfaction, employee satisfaction, physician satisfaction, volume targets, access to services, clinical quality, financial performance, efficiency, and service excellence.

  • Provides leadership, guidance, and administrative support for staff members.

  • Provides direction for supervisors and leads.

  • Fosters teamwork and cooperation among team members.

  • Participates in recruitment, orientation, supervision, retention, evaluation, competency assessment, credentialing, development, and continuing education for staff members.

  • Assesses employee, management, and patient concerns and addresses those concerns to the extent possible.

  • Coordinates physician preferences regarding scheduling, equipment, instruments, and supplies.

  • Defines patient and guest-focused performance parameters with emphasis on service, quality, and cost.

  • Sets appropriate benchmarks and establishes accountability.

  • Oversees inventory control and equipment management.

  • Directs maintenance of all patient assessment and procedure areas to ensure cleanliness, sterility, and adequate operation of all equipment.

  • Oversees the care and maintenance of physical facility.

  • In conjunction with the Supply Chain Services, negotiates with supply and equipment vendors to assure unit costs remain within budgetary constraints.

  • Evaluates the need for new and different equipment and supplies.

  • Develops operating and capital budgets, monitors the facility's financial and operations results on an ongoing basis.

  • Recommends changes to operations and marketing activity needs to meet financial goals and objectives.

  • Establishes procedures for the planning and coordination of assignments of personnel.

  • establishes procedures for the planning of the surgical suites and endoscopy suites.

Position Details

Work Schedule/Details:

  • Typical hours are 8:00AM to 4:30PM (Monday through Friday)

  • As a director, you will have 24/7 accountability - this is primarily on weekdays

  • Infrequent travel may be required for regional meetings

Graduate from Specialty Training Program- (Required), Bachelor's Degree- (Preferred)


Minimum of 5 years-Managing people, processes, or projects (Required), Minimum of 5 years-Healthcare (Required)

Licensed Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania) - RN_State of Pennsylvania
