Job Summary:

The Critical Care Resource Pool (ICU Float Pool) RN provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization. The tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Assesses plans and evaluates patient care needs.

  • Carries out physician orders.

  • Administers prescribed medications, changes dressings, cleans wounds, monitors vital signs.

  • Serves as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well coordinated patient care.

  • Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.

  • Instructs and educates patients and families.

  • Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

  • Provides age and culturally appropriate care.

  • Orients and mentors new staff members.

  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current Texas RN License or valid compact license

  • BLS, American Heart Association required

  • ACLS, required

  • CCRN preferred

  • Min 3 years of ICU/critical care experience required

  • Must be able to work in any of the following areas: CVICU, SICU, MICU, NVICU, Telemetry, Progressive Care

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: * Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing * BSN * 3-6 years RN experience in Pediatric ICU, Pediatric CVICU or NICU * Must be able to work in 4 of the following areas, 2 of which must be critical care: NICU, PICU, CHSU, NCICU, Peds ED, 6D, 6N, Stem Cell Transplant (pediatric patients) LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: * Current RN license in the State of Texas * Current American Heart Association BLS provider. * PALS required within 6 months of hire or transfer * NRP required within 6 months of hire or transfer * STABLE and CV STABLE required within 6 months of hire or transfer.
